After watching a certain Family Guy episode, how could you not download this song? How could you not set it as your ringtone? How could you not spread the word, that The Bird Is The Word? How could you not take out $6,000 to pay for an advertisment to spread the word, that The Bird Is The Word? Don't you know about the bird??? The Answer? You can't.

You have to buy this utter masterpiece that is one of the best of the surf... NO... Rock era. A completely irresistible song that calls and beckons your feet to move endlessly, for you to sing it constantly, and for it to NEVER leave your brain. I'm only going to ask you this once, but do you know about the bird? Because everybody knows that The Bird Is The Word.

It's Peter Griffin's favorite song. It's my favorite song. If you buy it, it'll be your favorite song. Cause don't you know??? It was my understanding that everybody knew. 'Know what?' That The Bird Is The Word! Amazon people don't you know? Well Flap's going to tell you about the bird. Bird Is The Word!!!

I think Flap Jackson and Surfin' Bird "Word" have already nailed this review on the head! I couldn't say it any better.

I will say though, that I wish I would have bought the album and ripped this song myself. The Variable Bit version Amazon has for download never reaches 256Kbps. It varies between 112Kbps and reaches a maximum of 224Kbps with most of recording staying at about 160Kbps.

While Variable Bit Recordings (VBR) in and of themselves is not an issue, I think that for this song, it just doesn't sound as good as it could. I have downloaded many songs from Amazon. I have been happy with all of them up to this point. While it is a simple song, the music is very intense and most of the time the music bandwidth is completely 'saturated' to the point of distortion. I believe using a constant bitrate of 256Kbps would be produce a recording that is more true to the 45 rpm record I have. (I didn't rip that one because of the unfortunate scratches and skips in the 45.)

If you really believe that The Bird Is The Word and if you really give a bop a ooh mow mow, you'll buy the whole album and rip it yourself. The CD is also available here on Amazon. (Then set it as your ringtone and drive everyone crazy because it'll be stuck in their head all day!)

Everyone should buy this song. Wouldn't it be truly terrific if everyone knew The Bird Is The Word?!?

i don't like the singer's voice. i feel as if it would be so much better if this were made into a music video with peter from family guy. before peter, this song was unknown, for what? like 15 years?

i don't recommend buying this because its annoying. if you want to listen to it, just go onto youtube and look up family guy or peter singing surfin bird. its so much better that way
