5.0 out of 5 stars covers all you need to know about 60`s surf music, March 4, 1999

Great pics. & inside info. on some of the obscure & unknown bands from Orange County, Inland Empire, & South Bay. Also more known bands such as The Lively ones, nocturns, & esquires. A must for any surf and drag enthusiasts into the old school sound.

Even an old hodad like me enjoyed this quirky tour de force. If you have a milk crate full of Ventures records sitting in your closet, or an old Silvertone under your bed, you'll definately appreciate the info in this book. The author does an admirable job handling the esoteric and eclectic topic of Surf Music History. If you're a gremmie, you'll need this book to know which LP's to put on your Salvation Army Store shopping list. Buy this one before it goes out of print forever! I mean it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile but flawed, August 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Surfin' Guitars: Instrumental Surf Bands of the Sixties (Hardcover)
The photos and raw information make this book worthwhile for fanatics of instrumental surf music, but the author's writing style is rather dull and far too repetitive.
