Editorial Reviews

Review

"A comprehensive review of every aspect of dermatological surgery."

"This is an exceptionally well illustrated, comprehensive review of the whole subject of surgery of the skin. It will be of value not only to practicing dermatologists but to all clinicians interested in both therapeutic and aesthetic surgical procedures.... An important addition to the libraries of all interested in this expanding field." --Baylor University Medical Center Proceedings, April 2006

"A complete, well-written, well-thought-out and beautifully presented book."

"This is a text that should be used on a regular basis--not confined to a shelf for occasional perusal. It will serve as a useful resource for dermatologic surgeons of all levels, from novice to expert, and sets a new standard for future textbooks of dermatologic surgery."

"The Basic, Aesthetic, and Special Surgical Procedure chapters are magnificent."

"Further enhancing the state-of-the-art presentation is its accompanying DVD. ... These video sequences serve as an invaluable teaching tool, since the intracacies of surgery are best appreciated by watching experts perform them. ... Watching experienced surgeons work from such a close vantage point takes the reader out of the realm of conventional textbook learning."
--All excerpts from Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, February 2006, pp 367-368.

"A perfect companion to McKee's Pathology of the Skin, Surgery of the Skin sews together the latest data on the subject of invasive treatment of skin disease into one practical and all-inclusive text. This is an important resource for Dermatologists and skin surgeons who are likely to see many more cases of skin cancer as the elderly population continues to increase over the next decade." --The Electric Review, August/September 2005

Doody's Rating: * * * * *

Purchase this book if you are looking for a comprehensive review of procedural dermatology. It is ideal for any student of procedural dermatology, whether training in dermatology, primary care, head and neck surgery, or plastic and reconstructive surgery. Even skilled practitioners in any of these specialties would find useful information in this book. The authors have made a valuable addition to the field by linking basic surgical instruction with an excellent DVD with all of the rich and useful information that can be provided in that format.

The book covers all of the common dermatologic procedures and includes ancillary topics to dermatologic surgery such as instruments, surgical consents, perioperative issues, surgical suite design, accreditation issues, and even imaging in dermatologic surgery. The DVD included with the book is the most innovative, unique, and useful tool I have ever used. Included with the DVD is a web-based link for downloadable images and figures for further education.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concise Text for DermSurg, December 15, 2005
This review is from: Surgery of the Skin: Textbook with DVD (Hardcover)
This text is typical of Dr. Robinson style of editing. Concise. No fluff, just meat... and this text is a T-bone steak. I find myself looking up what I want and then 15 minutes later reading the next chapter because the text was interesting. The figures are useful and well illustrated

The included CD with images and DVD clips of procedures is useful.

This was a useful addition to my Derm Library. Kudos to Dr. R.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book., June 4, 2008
This review is from: Surgery of the Skin: Textbook with DVD (Hardcover)
Fantastic book. Very well palnned and organized, resembling Bolognia, Jorizzo and Rapini`s Dermatology.
The only thing to criticize is the fact that the videos in the DVD are actually still images concatenated (but still very informative).
