5.0 out of 5 stars Huge aid
This book serves as the guide to surgical pimping for medical students. This allowed me to enter cases with a clear understanding of the anatomy of the case and an incite into the techniques that we would be using.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for Med Students!
You DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT need this for clerkship m3. No one actually expects m3 to know this amount of detail or technique and it is NOT what you will be graded or tested on.

Also the only pocket this thing fits in is maybe Paul Bunyan - it's HUGE for a 'pocket manual'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surgical Anatomy and Technique, February 17, 2007

This is an excellent book! Outlining the steps of general surgery procedures, explaining significant anatomy to know and vessels to watch out for. This is a must have for any surgical student! The size is also good, can't be carried in the pocket but small enough to bring into the surgical suites.

5.0 out of 5 stars great to review before a case, February 18, 2011

this is kind of a "how to do it" type book as opposed to something like surgical recall. provides an overview of the anatomy and the operation itself. i wish i had purchased this earlier on as it really gives you a better idea to what's going on in the OR if you've never seen a certain case before. highly recommended for students who might be interested in surgery!

amazon really needs to change this error in the title where it says "lecture notes in mathematics!!"

This is an important reference for medical students and residents. It is helpful for developing an understanding of the anatomy of classic general surgery cases. Wonderful bridge from medical school classroom to the operating room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Item description -surplusage, April 27, 2009
This review is from: Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual (Lecture Notes in Mathematics; 727) (Paperback)
i bought this for my husband, who is a surgical assistant. he mentioned that this book is practically the horn book on surgery, though we were thrown off by the description of "(lecture notes in mathematics)". thankfully the book arrived complete as viewed from the image, but for the life of us, we still do not know what the lecture in notes in mathematics is supposed to refer to.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book for surgical residents, August 29, 2010
This review is from: Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual (Lecture Notes in Mathematics; 727) (Paperback)
excellent book. one of the best I have ever used, especially for surgical technique... you get everything focused on how to do the case... anatomy well presented with pics and more importantly focused on the surgery.. not just presented for the sake of it..
covering a wide range of procedures, will not disappoint at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for clerkship & beyond, July 9, 2011

This review is from: Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual (Lecture Notes in Mathematics; 727) (Paperback)
This book is not perfect, but is excellent as a stand-alone for clinical & surgical review of procedures. Many pics from the view of the surgeon is way better to study anatomy than just to study anatomy. The key to getting stuff right when you're getting grilled in the OR is not Netter's...it is anatomy from the perspective that you'll see it in the field you'll be operating in. Paired with online videos of procedures, & other resources for surgical anatomy, this is an excellent resource.

That said, if you're not digging surgery, there's better ways to spend $50.
