5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most complete reference GI pathology texts out there., July 20, 2009
This review is from: Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas: Expert Consult - Online and Print, 2e (Hardcover)
Personally, I have found this book to be one of the most complete and comprehensive GI pathology textbooks out there on the market now. I love it because it also covers the liver, pancreas and biliary tract, making it the prefect one-stop, one volume GI textbook. I will say that at times the pictures are not the largest but the quality is excellent....just my thoughts.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for all pathology residents and practicing pathologists, February 24, 2009
This review is from: Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas: Expert Consult - Online and Print, 2e (Hardcover)
Everything you need to know about gastrointestinal pathology is in this book and it's really complete. Every entity is discussed from the most common to the rarest ones and accompanied by representative pictures. The differential diagnosis is well discussed and in this regards, lots of tables have been added from the previous edition. You just can't go wrong with this book as a pathology resident, gastrointestinal fellow or practicing pathologist. The fact that you can access the text, references and images online is awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars due to a major inconvenience, December 16, 2009
This review is from: Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas: Expert Consult - Online and Print, 2e (Hardcover)
This book is one of the best in the field of GI/Liver Pathology. However, there is a major inconvenience, for which I removed one star from an otherwise perfect score. The inconvenience is caused by deliberate omission of the references in the end of each chapter. This causes a lot of frustration to readers who wish to explore the originating articles. I sincerely hope they would change this in the next release.

This review is from: Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas: Expert Consult - Online and Print, 2e (Hardcover)
The second (and much updated) edition of this volume is one of the best GI pathology books available. It's a nearly complete reference guide for all gastrointestinal pathology topics, including tubal gut, liver and pancreatico-biliary tree, all in one convenient volume. Each entity is thoroughly discussed, with numerous accompanying images that complement the text and clearly illustrate the relevant pathology. One of the best features of this edition is the online version, which provides easy access to the book from any computer at any location at any time. It's an invaluable resource for a fellow in training or for anyone needing to learn GI pathology.

This book is awesome. I really enjoy reading it. Updated details and all summary tables are very helpful.
Also you will love the online version. Pictures and references are also available online. You can even get the full-text articles from references online. Is that great? Imagine, having access to all those selected articles for free!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The GIT Path Oracle, April 20, 2011

This review is from: Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas: Expert Consult - Online and Print, 2e (Hardcover)
This is an amazing text. Never before have I found a text that is as irrestible as a best-selling thriller. As a grass roots Pathologist, who mainly reports GI pathology, I have found this incredibly useful. The content is both factual and pragmatic, answering the dilemmas one encounters in routine pathology reporting, as well as clearly explaining the more esoteric topics. My only regret is not reading it sooner...

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all there, September 13, 2010

I have waited a while to buy something that is current and complete. This textbook fits the bill. Though at first I was concered there would be too much redundant information, the individual chapters (IBD, for example) are quite concise and well organized. The pictures and diagrams are quite helpful.
A small section on sample reports or formats (i.e. dealing with dysplasia in Barrett's, for instance), would have been helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent GI Text, April 18, 2010

This review is from: Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas: Expert Consult - Online and Print, 2e (Hardcover)
Since receiving our copy of Odze, we've dipped into various sections such as colonic polyps, gastritis and colitis, and have found them well written and up to date. The images were of excellent quality and pertinent. More illustrations would have made the book too large to handle. I particularly liked the tables and diagrams.

In the sections looked at so far, an excellent and well balanced text book. I look forward to reading more.
