5.0 out of 5 stars Skippy Jon Jones does it again!
I dont' know if it's because his big ears are so cute or that his name is fun to say, but Skippy Jon Jones is a big hit in our house. It's for younger readers that enjoy a simple story that is a little quirky and random, but very sweet. Fantastic pictures with interesting details. Well done Skippy Jon Jones.

2.0 out of 5 stars Skippyjon Jones in Name Only
I bought this through Scholastic (school book orders), so I didn't realize this was not written by the author of the series. The story is much shorter. But, it also doesn't make a lot of sense. 2.0 out of 5 stars Skippyjon Jones in Name Only, April 28, 2008
This review is from: A Surprise for Mama (Skippyjon Jones) (Paperback)
I bought this through Scholastic (school book orders), so I didn't realize this was not written by the author of the series. The story is much shorter. But, it also doesn't make a lot of sense. Skippyjon wants to make his Momma a present to show her he loves her. He decides drawing a picture is too easy and baking a cake is too hard. But, then he decides to try to make her enchiladas, which is harder than baking a cake. He finally ends up making her a pinata. But, the main purpose of this book is allowing the kids to put stickers on certain pages. If I wanted that, I would have bought stickers.

The Spanish is forced into this book (e.g. Skippyjon wants to tell his Momma I love you - te amo). The only reference to Skippyon's chihuahua tendencies is him looking into a mirror and seeing a chihuahua. And I think the friends who help him with the pinata are suppposed to be the Chimichangos, but it's not clear.

In the interest of full disclosure, my 6 and 3 year old boys like this story, which is why I gave it 2 stars. But, I think they like it just because it has their friend Skippyjon in it. I think it would not have been as appealing if it had been some unknown character. I certainly wish I had not bought this book.

There isn't much to this book in the way of a storyline - there is only a sentence or 2 per page. That being said, the artwork is still cute, and it comes with lots of stickers to add to the scene on each page. My 2 year old Skippyjon Jones addict enjoys that interactive element to this book. If your child loves Skippyjon Jones, I'm sure they will not be disappointed with this book. If you are new to Skippyjon Jones however, read the originals by Judy Schachner (Skippyjon Jones, Mummy Trouble, Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones, and Skippyjon Jones in the Doghouse) first to fully appreciate the wonderful and hilarious adventures of Skipyjon Jones, the Siamese cat who thinks he's a chihuahua.

I purchased this for my 4-year old granddaughter, who loves the Skippyjon Jones books. She was delighted to see that this little storybook had stickers. She loves putting stickers on pages. It was helpful that the stickers were grouped as to what pages they were relevant to in the story. She liked the story, too. She told her Mom all about Skippyjon making a pinata for his mother. It was a big hit for a critical 4-year old!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite, October 10, 2011

This book is a knock-off of Miss Judy's. And it comes with stickers. Not too much for storyline. And not too much for likability compared to the original Skippyjon saga. It's not what we were expecting when it showed up in the mail.

This story is not like the others it has barely any text and no storyline whatsoever. We normally love these books but this one was a total DUD. Worst purchase ever.

These are all right, they're sticker books with little stories. I've found they're not nearly as great as the actual books themselves. For the price, I would not buy them again and just stick with the actual Skippyjon Jones books and skip the sticker books.

This little character is one of the best out there. I encourage all parents to read these books with their children. Not only does 'the Skipster' have a wonderful imagination but you and your child can learn some Spanish too. It has a wonderful many (mucho) filled purpose. You learn, you enjoy, you love the illustrations, you laugh, and you cheer for Skippyjon Jones!!!!

This is 14 pages soft cover book for $5.99. WOW! Did not say anywhere it is a soft cover.
Amazon changes the format for showing pages. I only like the drawings. Oh well, Borders dooes not carry much in their inventory and there is no Skippy Jones there.
