Surprised by Peace is a treasure that I highly recommend to all. It is easy to read, hard to put down, and extremely moving and inspirational. The stories are so real you can feel the anguish and joy of the authors as you read. This book offers insight into gay people that we do not often encounter. It will make you rethink the typical stereotypes of gays, as well as Christians, especially the negative ones. It shows how gay people are among all segments of society and that they yearn for the same things all people do: peace, love, joy, and hope.

From these accounts, we see that God is much bigger and of such greater character than what we are led to believe by religion, its leaders, and their interpretations of Scripture. The stories are about people of various ages, family status, educations, religious backgrounds, nationalities, professions, finances, and health, yet they all find peace through a simple faith in God.

For these reasons, Surprised by Peace has universal appeal. It is the kind of book we all need to read to better understand ourselves and all those around us, as well as the character of God and the peace and hope we can all find through simple faith in Him.

I'm not much of a reader but I started to reading this book and could'nt put it down. I have read it three times and when I am having a bad day I pick it up and read some of the stories and it gives me encourgement and peace.
The stories were written by people of all walks of life. Each story touches you in a differnt way you feel the pain, sadness, happiness and the hurt they felt as the wrote about there life's expreinces. And How God can take your heartache and turns thing's around and gives you Peace and Love like no other.
The book shows God Love and Acceptance everyone as we should except and love one another as he does.
I pray that this book will give each reader the peace and love that only God can give us.

This collection of personal stories of faith through adversity kept me wanting to read more. I have struggled with my own faith. Seeing that I am not alone, reading some incredible testimonies added to my strong faith and gave me greater hope for people with many differing backgrounds all looking, searching and finding the One true thing that can give us all peace.
I hope you will read and find "Surprised by Peace" will be more than a surprise, but an enlightenment.

The true stories related here come from gay and non-gay people with incredibly diverse backgrounds, ages, professions and even nationalities. The publisher made an excellent work in editing. A common, understandable, clean language can be appreciated in all stories although every story maintains its personality. This shows a very good command of the language on the part of the editor. All the stories touched my heart deeply in different ways: sadness, gladness, anger, astonishment, pain. The struggle that all these people went through helped me to be more compassionate and to see homosexuals in another light. The light that God shines on them. God is real in these people despite what anybody else may say. It showed me that God reveals Himself to ANYONE who seeks Him. I think this book is not restricted to Christian readers but to anyone searching a spiritual path. The second section of the book is very enlightening as it contains answers to the most common question we ask as Christians, i.e. how can you be gay and be at peace with God. From the printing point of view, the book has an outstanding cover: the photograph of a sunrise where you can appreciate God magnificence. Surprised by Peace is an easy reading material because of the comfort spacing and font type. I used the order forms included in the back of the book to order more copies for my friends. I visited the website address to ask the publisher for more related material. They were very prompt in their response and very accessible. I was delightfully surprised by this hidden treasure.

When I recieved my copy of Surprised by Peace, I read it all in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who might be having trouble with their faith or who just wants a good christian book to read. I have read it twice now and I very rarely read anything more than once.

I have already read this book and I can tell you this is a must get book for those who are gay/lesbian/bi/trans. It is also a good book for those who know people who are, or have children who are. I think this book shows clearly God's love for all humanity for who and what they are. Too many people in the gay community are turned away from the churches. This book will help in getting your spiritual life back on track.

I read this book in on sitting, I just couldn't put it down. My own faith has been improved by the stories in this book. I would highly recommend it.
