"A day in the life" sort of story,
By Teresa (Portland,ME) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Surprising Myself (Meet the Author) (Hardcover)
This is an autobiography by Jean Fritz. It is somewhat of a picture book that follows her in her travels as she writes one of her many books. She tells of how she must travel to the foreign land of her characters in order to write a story that is "true to heart". I enjoyed this book because it allowed me to see the process some authors put themselves through in order to be good writers. It is interesting to watch her characters take shape through her own autobiography. Also the pictures in the book (photographs of Jean traveling) really went well with the story. Jean shared the message of "If you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything." She shows how even the best writers struggle to make a good story that is worth reading and that it is ok to "re-write" stories and if need your life.
