5.0 out of 5 stars Concise, invaluable information

I found this booklet so insightful, even life-changing. I don't need a lot of extra words, I like reading concise, on-target material. Radically shifting the experience of anger -- for only $7. That's worth five stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very brief Pamphlet
Technically there are 24 pages in this paperback. This includes fairly large print and pages partially filled. It also includes review pages and "practice pages" with just a couple sentences of instruction with blank lines for you to fill in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on anger management. Cuts to the core, January 10, 2008
This review is from: The Surprising Purpose of Anger: Beyond Anger Management: Finding the Gift (Nonviolent Communication Guides) (Paperback)
This book beats all the crap all there. It tells you the truth. You are angry because you have a need and it's not being met. And the problem with anger is you are just trying to get it met in the wrong way! So easy, practice self ownership. It helped me get over my anger tendencies!

This book was clear, to the point, and filled with information. I have never read a book on psychology (especially anger) that made this much sense. Everything the author talked about I have experienced, but couldn't express it the way he did. I have learned from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astounding clarity, profound help for anyone afflicted with anger!, February 12, 2011

This books is only about 40 pages long, more a pamphlet than a book. I read the entire thing the day I received it. I wept. I felt sad, exhilarated and encouraged all at once. I felt a quiet revolution taking place in my head. I was tempted to purchase umpteen copies to pass out to everyone I know. The message is so simple and so profound. If you have come so far in your search as to read this review, you must read this book!

This book shares some great ideas about the sources of our anger and what to do about it. Rosenberg simplifies the concept of anger and shows us how to take ownership and control of our own emotions. He explains his ideas in such an easy to understand way, that I believe most people can gain real insight into their own behavior. This book is written from a question and answer session with Marshall Rosenberg. Although the book shares great ideas about anger, I would have liked it better if it had been written in a more didactic style. It is still a bargain at $6.95!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Big help to parents, September 12, 2009
This review is from: The Surprising Purpose of Anger: Beyond Anger Management: Finding the Gift (Nonviolent Communication Guides) (Paperback)
I got this book to help me with my temper outbursts with my children, and found that it can be applied to everyone. It's one thing to read the book, and another to put it into practise, everyday, no matter how tired you are. Really quick and easy to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Fooled By Its Briefness, December 18, 2010
This review is from: The Surprising Purpose of Anger: Beyond Anger Management: Finding the Gift (Nonviolent Communication Guides) (Paperback)
Don't be fooled by the briefness of this booklet. When I first opened the packet and found this thin book, I was worried. How can 38 pages resolve the anger issues that I have been experiencing for over three decades? I'm not going to lie; it can't perform any miracles. It's going to take time for me to work on my anger issues, but the advice that was given, in four steps, are very practical, useful, and easy to apply. While I was reading it, I caught myself trying to justify my anger or come up with exceptional examples. "Yeah, that might be true, but it doesn't apply when it comes to racism." Well, guess what? There's actually an example in the book on racism and Rosenberg's explanation makes sense to me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is overwhelmed with anger (like me) or who is going into the profession of helping others deal with anger issues.

This book is clear, concise, and presents great information. Well worth the price to better understand the "upside of anger". If you want to learn how feelings and expressions of anger can be used to better understand yourself and others and improve your relationships, this book is for you.

This book, deals specifically with anger and that's what makes it special when compared to the other NVC books. The examples given by the author are so self-explanatory that we only need to follow him. Fantastic!

This book's nontraditional approach to "anger management" provides a deeper look at the role of anger and underlying needs while maintaining the essence of personal responsibility. I'm impressed.
