SURRENDER ~IS~AWESOME!!~~,
By Patsy Nelson "Readin Diva" (Charlotte, North Carolina United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Surrender (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
In this latest installment of the Madaris family stories, Ms. Jackson manages to bring a fresh new story with two very interesting people in Colonel Ashton Sinclair and Netherland Brooms. The sensual tension between the two is so strong you can feel it through the pages of the book. The title lets you know that someone is going to have to SURRENDER, because although Ashton is in love with Netherland, she has vowed to never get involved with a military man since she grew up an army brat, moving around. It takes an awesome man like Ashton to change her mind. In SURRENDER Ms. Jackson manages to tell a very captivating love story, full of romance and passion, and bring you up to date on characters from her previous stories in the Madaris family as well. She also manages to introduce a few new characters, all without missing a beat or taking away from the storyline. I started reading this book around 11 p.m. and found myself up reading all night because I could not put it down. SURRENDER has the depth to stand alone, but after you read it, you will definitely want to read the previous books in this dynamite series. A list of the previous titles are listed in the front of the book. It wil be well worth it. This one is a definite keeper for the bookshelf.

Get ready to Surrender If I could give this book a six star rating, I would have. Mrs. Jackson surpassed her usual great story telling and wrote a magnanimous story. "Surrender" was the Best of the Best. This book was a Family Reunion. All the Madaris' were present an accounted for. It felt like old home week. Brenda brought each member of the family up to date. I felt like I was hearing good news from members of my own family. Let me tell you when I picked up this book, I did not put it down until I was finished. I read well over into the night. It was worth any sleep that I lose, believe me. "Surrender" was sensational, intriguing, romantic, and just down right "HOT" (Imagine, an African-American/Cherokee, six foot male in a loincloth!!! Wow!!!!) It was the battle between the sexes. Colonel Ashton Sinclair, Of The United Stated Marines, against Netherland Blooms owner of the well known "Sisters Restaurant".He wanted her from the very first time he saw her. She was attracted to him, but was reluctant to admit it, because she made a promise years before that she would not date or marry a military man. The magnetism between the two was most unique. I could feel their attraction pulling me from the pages of my book. I found myself laughing out loud and talking to the characters of the book. Ashton would come to "Sisters" every night and sit in the same spot and watch her work, while he had dinner. Netherland did every thing in her power to avoid him. Then came the big auction. Colonel Sinclair was the Main Attraction. Nettie, finally realizing her true feeling. She was determined she had to make the highest bid at the auction. The prize would be a weekend with the Colonel. If you have read the other sagas of the Madaris family and friends this book is a most. If you have not, my advice to you is to start looking now and buy the series, because you a missing out on the best reads of your life.

Great book!,

How am I supposed to sleep with writing like this? This is my first Brenda Jackson novel and I am hooked. I can't wait to read all of the others about the Madaris Family. This is the story of Ashton Sinclair and Netherland Brooms- a military colonel and the woman who swore she'd never date a military man. He SEDUCES her and you right along with him. There is reference to Native American culture that makes this quite different from other books I've read in this genre. The intricacy of the characters and the interesting subplots make this a multidimensional story that is well-worth the read. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in Arabesque novels.

Ms. Jackson has done it again! First of all, hats off to Brenda Jackson for her family tree of the Madaris and extended family. I have been tracing my family and could not have done a better job. It is always good to get an update on old favorites and to see their lives progressing. Brenda Jackson's characters are like our friends. It is nice to see Syneda's father fitting into her life, to see Sterling's brother's life interconnect with Corthian's friend. You are proving the 6 Degree Seperation Theory. The family gatherings are just getting larger and you make us feel like we are there. You also threw in an interesting new generation with the older Madaris uncles grandsons. That was also a plus.Poor Netherland did not have a chance when the mysterious Ashton

Brenda Jackson is like fine wine she just keeps improving upon perfection. Ashton Sinclair and Netherland Brooms' trip through the power of love was done with excellent taste and Ms. Jackson's descriptions left me breathless and wanting more. I've always appreciated a man or woman (in this case a man) who knows what he wants and doesn't let anything or anyone stop him from achieving his goal. Ashton has wanted Nettie for over three years and decides he not going to wait any longer for her to realize that she is his destiny, the love of his life, his soulmate. Ashton places himself in a position where Nettie cannot ignore him or hide her feelings for him --- ignore him she cannot as Ashton is a man on mission. The man is definitely a master at seduction without having to use the technique of force, he just applies love, simply plain love and sometimes it's not so simple. Ashton just wasn't going to give up no matter what. This story had me hooked from page one and if you're looking for a novel that renews your faith in the power/magic of love, Surrender is a must read. I've followed Ms. Jackson's career from the beginning and am always awaiting her next release as she is one of those authors you can take to the bank. Don't miss out on this wonderful novel -- if you haven't read Ms. Jackson's other works of art be sure to check them out as they are definitely worth your time and your money.

In one corner is Netherland 'Nettie' Brooks, owner of 'Sisters', a restaurant that caters to single sistahs. .... In the other corner stands Marine Colonel Ashton Sinclair, of Cherokee and African American heritage. .... Enter destiny and you can almost hear the cry, "Let's get ready to rumble..." ....If you've followed the lives of the Madaris' and their friends, you will enjoy this hot, suspenseful read. Ms Jackson packed plenty drama with more than one couple, as she urged them all to reach for the brass ring. She lets us visit with the familiar clan and she sets the stage for more wonderful stories. ....Reviewed by aNN

Sweet! Sweet!! Surrender,

This book was worth the wait, not only do we see Ashton Sinclair carry out his plan of attack against the elusive Netherland Brooms, but we are introduced to three more ultra fine Madaris men in twins Blade and Slade along with cousin Luke. Ashton was determined to realize his "vision" for he and Netherland, he planned to not only have her as his wife but the mother of his sons, triplets no less, regardless of how impossible the obstacles proved.Netherland tried to resist the irresistable man that refused to let her shut him out of her life with her refusal to date him. But, Netherland soon realized that Ashton was more than a uniform, he was to be her destiny. Throughout the book we get to glimpse into the lives of Trevor and Corinthians as they prepare for baby Grant, Alex and Christy confronting the promise that will surely prove another blockbuster sequel, we meet Rome and Jada as they surrender to the possiblity of happiness, we see Brenda weave the lives of our favorite characters together as they struggle against a crisis that could mean life or death. This is Brenda at her 5 star best.... I am glad to add this to my Madaris collection.

I don't get a chance to read a lot of romance novels, but when Brenda Jackson is the author, I make time to read it. The Madrias brothers and their friends make for good romanctic and adventurous times. This story is Ashton's. He first laid eyes on Netherland about 3 years ago. He knew she was the one for him, but his problem was to convince her of that fact. Netherland had vowed never to love a military man, but Ashton just persisted until she decided to give him a chance. And once she did, it was on from there. I really like how Ms Jackson keeps us abreast of all her other characters but interweaving them in the story. She also introduces new characters that you just know are going to have a book of their own real soon.I just wish we could get maybe 3 books a year!! My other wish was that Ashton was on the cover instead of the cartoon figure.
