An American album!, February 13, 1999
By A Customer

This is Trans Am's shining hour (that is, unless the upcoming Future World is better). Their schizophrenic mix of indie-sized stadium rock and atmospheric electronic excursions is finest here. John McEntire's production is great, providing Trans Am a crisp conduit for their deceptively complex sounds. Although the Surveillance is a better representation of their smoking live show, Surrender to the Night is a better album.

will you marry me album?, July 26, 2007

this album is the BEST mix of instruments and electronics.
so much versatility within the same music style all within this album. no need to overanalyze-- just listen. then listen over and over again. then listen to all their albums.
i don't care how this band feels about themself-- i think they kick ASSUMPTION.

is trans am really your friend?, January 30, 2006

The problem with this one is that it sounds like the entire thing was created on someone's laptop. It's not bad, it just doesn't sound as original or as innovatively-retro as their other goodies. All instrumentals here. We get the usual cock-rock-metal-anthem bits, but the electronic bits are more 90's/dated sounding w/ Corny drum and bass style beats. They come off a little anonymous-like. I'ts like a relly old tortoise remix album. still... it's 100000 times better than mariah carey.
