I started to run this air purifier exactly 52 hours ago, and it has already changed my quality of life.

I have never owned an air purifier before. I have been literally choking on the air in my own apartment during the several months that I have been living here, and I had extremely unrealistic expectations about an air purifier: I imagined posting something like, "Wow! I could feel the difference after two hours!" Well, OK, it took more than two hours! But it happened.

I started it on low fan with the sanitizer disabled. Then I went to medium fan, then I added the sanitizer on low, then I put the fan on high and the sanitizer on medium. I awoke this morning no longer choking on the air and no longer confronted with the aggressive dusty odor with which I had come to associate my apartment. I left it today with the fan on high and the sanitizer on medium and returned tonight to a completely different atmosphere.

I am not afraid of the ozone produced by the sanitizer but if you are you can choose to run it only once in a while or never.

My only concern is that, unlike some other air purifiers, this one does not have a display light that indicates when the HEPA filter is dirty (and this HEPA filter is permanent if you have a hand vac although you can also choose to buy a replacement filter [also readily available through amazon]). Since this is my first air purifier, a dummy light would have been great. But I went for the price. I guess I'll know when the filter needs vacuuming or changing when I sense that the air is once again heavy with particles.

But no negatives. I love this thing. I want to hug it.

I bought my first XJ-3000 Surround air purifier in 2005. It's been in the bedroom ever since. The air always smells fresh and clean not musty. I bought two others for my boys. One was too loud. Sent it back and was replaced right away. Excellent service. That one review where the woman thought they weren't working...she forgot to remove the wrapping from the filter. I did that when I got a replacement filter. These work EXCELLENT! The ionization makes the air so fresh. I have run the one I bought in 2005 twenty four (24) hours a day seven (7) days a week and it still performs like it did when I bought it. Only issue is I replace the main filter every two years...here's a hint...take it out and vacuum it every three months or so. It will last a lot longer.

I have had several other purifiers and this is the best one I have owned. I have allergies and it helps with that. It is fairly quiet and removes alot of dust from the air.

I purchased this in 2004 in an effort to get myself some relief from my husband's cigarette smoke. Within the first year, the power on/off switch failed. I sent it back under warranty and it was promptly repaired or replaced. The manufacturer was great to work with.

Since then, I have had no problems and it runs for several hours every day. It has three fan speeds and in "LOW" it is very quiet. I periodically vaccuum it to prolong the filter life. I can tell by the quantity of debris filtered that it is working! I can also see nicotine stains on the plastic near the intake! If I didn't love this guy, I'd get rid of him & the cigarettes. This air filter was a great compromise.

I've waited 6 weeks or so to write this review to give this item a chance to work. First I used in it my bedroom, which just about matches the dimensions it is supposed to be able to clean. I noticed some difference in the amount of dust that settled next to it but not overall in my room. Nor did I feel it changed my allergy symptoms much when I woke up.

Then I tried it in my living room, within about 8 feet of where I sit when I am awake, on the high setting. There it did help. I have definitely felt a change in my allergies (symptoms pretty much gone)when I do that. If I can find a convenient place to put it permently near me in the living room I might do that. It is pretty compact, but on high it is a little noisy for the living room - yes, it is white noise, kind of like a refrigerator humming or the faucet on -- but it is definitely loud enough on high to use it only when you are alone. I haven't tried the lower settings yet to see if it works that well that close to me.

I bought my first 3000 series purifier 3 years ago and it has ran 24/7 365 with no problems and excellent results. There is myself who is a smoker and 3 dogs in a 500 sq.ft apt. with no odors at all !! Need I say more ?

I now own three of these and will be adding a 4th for my office. We run one 24/7/365 in the basement of our turn-of-the-century house, and it does wonders in eliminating any sense of mold or mustiness.

I'm a heavy smoker,and can't stand the smell of smoke in my home ... I had purchased another air purifier about half a year ago, and the cost of the replacement filter, was the same cost of what I paid for the unit ... On top of that, I was not pleased with the results with elimiting odors in my home ... I've had the Surround Air Multi Tech purifier for about a month now, and totally love it ... When company comes into my home, they swear it is free of the old smoke smell, that bothered me so before ... I would totally recommend this product to anyone who has stale or bother some odors, expecially a smoker in their homes, as this unit toally works ...

We had mold in our walls after hurricane Ike but did not know it. We just began to suffer allergywise. So I ordered this air purifier and within 3 hours the air in my room was clean. If I turn it off at night the I wake up during the night stopped up. It is great because it kills any mold that is circulating. I spoke with a person that sells purifiers and they said that you definately want a good one to have a ozonater as well as something to circulate the air. Having different levels to run all of the purifier is great. Or being able to turn off the sanitizer(ozone) is a plus.

I first purchased one of the XJ-3000D SURROUND AIR purifiers. It looked impressive but does not do the job. I liked the looks of it and it appears like it would clean the air and after a couple weeks I bought another unit, exact same model. Well I use them for 10 to 14 hrs a day every day. I am thinking as time goes by, "Hey, this is great I never have to change the filter" In the meantime I am changing my whole house air filter every month, and let me tell you with 2 big dogs and 2 cats, my A/C-furnace Merv 8 filters are filthy. BUT why are these filters so filthy and needing monthly replacement when I never even changed my Surround Air filters once in over a year? Either one of them? Then I looked at the Surround Air Hepa Filter, took it out and it was CLEAN, "I mean new looking clean". How can this be? Everyone that owns one go to your machine, your surround air purifiers and look at your back of the HEPA filter, IT will be white and clean and those that say not probably work for Surround Air. It had a very minute bit of dust around the outside of the filter where air leaked around the perimeter, but the back was like brand new. So I took a piece of newspaper, about 3 inches by 4 inches, just one sheet and placed it on the intake, and it could not even hold this little piece of newspaper up. I did this on BOTH units. So how can this air cleaner clean the air? If air can't go through the 3 3/4 inch Hepa filter because the fan's draw is not strong enough to pull the air through the Hepa filter, where it is suppose to trap pollutants and particles thus emitting clean FILTERED air and coming out through the exhaust cleansed. It is not happening! If your air was being laundered your filter would be filthy and needing to be changed or in the least vacuumed. As an owner of one of these, I say, "Don't waste your time, money, and the electricity it costs to run this for this Air Purifier or buy its expensive replacement filters". Look for INDEPENDENT TESTING BEFORE YOU BUY AN AIR PURIFIER. This is just another ripoff on consumers.
