I have a small apartment, and I leave this unit running on low all the time. When I first got it, I put it on high and could really smell the ozone. It smells like chlorine bleach to me. Then I got a sore throat. It would disappear when I went to work, and reappear when I came home. Hmmmm, turns out that's a side effect of overexposure to ozone. I turned the unit down to low, and the problem dissappeared. I have been using it happily for about 3 months now. The pros: very inexpensive, very small and unobtrusive, can be wall mounted, whisper quiet, 2 settings, no expensive filters to replace, no moving parts!!! The only thing I do not like about this, and the reason I take one star off, is the lack of access to the collection plate. There are 2 small holes for you to push a Q-tip in and try to rub around to clean the plate. Really not the best design, but on the plus side, it doesn't need to be done often. There is much less dust in my house now, and it helps a little bit with odor (I have it near the cat box). The instructions state that these ionizers need to be placed 4 or 5 feet up off the floor, because ozone is heavier than air. That makes me wonder if the previous reviewer had his up high enough.

This product does what it says it will do. It lessen the dust in my room. It is very quiet and I have it hanging on my wall. As long as it is in an enclosed room than it should be good. This is the only place you can find this for a great price.

The first few days after I plugged this in, you could smell the difference in the air (I smoke and have a dog; it smelled cleaner in a metallic way)After having the air purifier for two weeks or so, the smell was gone, once again replaced by smoke and dog - it's good for a quick fix (in-laws coming over, holiday dinner, etc) but don't expect much for long-term.
