Surround sound quality in games Can anyone comment on the quality of the surround sound of these cans when playing a game? For instance, can you tell which direction gunfire/other sounds are coming from? From reading the product description I noticed they only have a single speaker in each ear and I am concerned how well they can realistically create surround sound without multiple speakers. Any info/comments are greatly appreciated as I am seriously considering picking these up.

Thanks.

I posted a review above on this topic:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1QQIE3TBYQZQ2/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm

Summary - did *not* work at all for me. I could in no way delineate sounds in front of me from sounds behind me. I appear to be in the minority, but given that each can appears to have a single driver, I just do not get how folks are hearing such positioning. Either I am missing something, the physiology of my ears is different, or there is a little bit of Kool Aid flowing in these parts.

Thanks for the reply man. I appreciate the informative review that actually addressed the issue of whether the supposed 7.1 surround sound actually works or not. As a side note, I find it funny/odd that my online handle is also ScubaSteve.

No prob! Glad to help!

BTW, I just edited the review, but it looks like amazon is going to sit on it and review my changes before it goes live...but the major message didn't change. These things have a single driver in each ear. Real surround sound is going to require more than one driver per ear...spaced. Something like this: http://www.psykoaudio.com/

Always glad to help another Scuba :)
