Book Description

041298511X 978-0412985119 April 30, 1995 2nd
This unique and practical handbook compiles essential information on state-of-the-art technology, standards, resources, legal issues, and office management of professional surveying. It provides a convenient one-volume reference on all aspects of the subject. The book begins with introductory chapters reviewing field notes and data collection, measurement accuracy, instruments and drafting. This provides the basis for coverage of all surveying procedures currently in use, including such recently developed methods as geographic information systems (GIS) and global position system surveying (GPS), as well as established techniques such as plane table and compass surveying. This second edition is extensively revised and expanded. In addition to new coverage of GIS and GPS, the book features new chapters on boundary surveys on land and along waterways. All the chapter authors are experts in their subject areas, assuring users that the information presented is reliable, accurate, and practical. Professionals and advanced students in surveying, civil engineering, and land development, in both private and public sectors, will benefit from this indispensable reference. The book will also be useful as a general reference for non-surveying professionals.

This review is from: Surveying Handbook (Hardcover)
It's a gamut of surveying. Surveying has a long history, and this book fills the gap between past and present practice of surveying. It has 35 chapters written by different authors. Although it was published in 1995, licensed surveyors should own this book in order to build a solid foundation of surveying techniques and the theory behind them.
