I'm studying for the FS and I've found this book to be very helpful for example problems, but your definitely going to need to get the Reference Manual as well because that explains in more detail on how to do problems.

Last summer, when I graduated with an associate degree in land surveying, I have been trying to get a hold of the second edition, 1001 Solved Surveying Fundamentals Problems, 2nd ed., since that was all I had ever heard of, but I always found it no less that $400 dollars which is a rip-off. Finally I saw a link that said there was a third edition, this book, for less than a hundred. I was skeptical, but it is just as good. (Yes, I have used the second edition and know the comparison) So unless you are really into antique collecting, just get this book.

This book is great in my opinion. It has everything in it that a surveyor needs to know. You will definitely be well prepared for the PS exam if you can answer these questions and if you can't answer them, this is a great study guide for what you need to know. I highly recommend this book.

I bought this book ("Surveying Solved Problems for the FS and PS Exams") because my land surveying professor recommended it in preparing for my PLS exam in Oregon. I have been studyin it consistently for over a month now and it has refreshed my memory on a lot of subjects including horizontal/vertical curves, land survey law, public land survey system, legal descriptions, plats/mapping, geodetic surveys etc. I would recommend this to any person trying to pass the FS or PS examination. I have noticed several typos/wrong answers but the concepts are presented in a well manner.

I have not had a chance to finish the book, but I am hoping to get an ample knowledge and practice preparing me for the upcoming PE exam.
