Editorial Reviews

This bangin' release is the first installment of the assemblage of Trill Entertainment's finest. The SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST is loaded with tracks from partners-in-rhyme Lil Boosie & Webbie. The Southern duo brought you the smash FOR MY THUGZ , the gutter album GHETTO STORIES, and the unparalleled release GANGSTA MUSIK that sold over 100,00 units independently. Webbie was the first to go solo with Savage Life. Lil Boosie followed a year later with his first solo venture: Bad Azz, that is selling strong, thanks in part to the hit track Zoom featuring Young Joc, that continues to blow up the airwaves. SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST also features hot tracks by Trill's up & coming rappers Foxx, Phat, Soulja Boy, Big Head, Shell, & Mouse. Prepare for another Trill Entertainment & Asylum hit that will not disappoint!! This is the non-explicit version.

This Album is so good that Trill Ent. has the West Coast giving respect and then savage life 2 has 2 songs that already hit the streets so the world better look out for Boosie, Webbie, Big Head, and Lil Foxx in the future because Louisiana (the 225 area) is taking over

If you not from Baton Rouge, you won't ever understand TRILL FAM!! Most of the Trill family came from nothing and now they are the hottest Rap group in LOUISIANA. It is known. Check your stats. Im not giving too much credit but I am giving credit where it is due. MOUSEONTHATRACK makes it happen, just like Mannie Fresh made Cash Money happen!!!

- because after a week, this album maybe best served as a coaster.

Trill Entertainment was a label started by UGK's Pimp C. As one-half of one of the greatest hip-hop groups of all time, one would think that the Pimp would have a better ear for talent; I guess one can't be blessed in every aspect of life, and talent scouting is not one of the Pimp's better aspects. Most of the emcees signed to the label are either mind-numbingly mediocre or the definition of wack.

3 Deep would be the most appropriate for the latter title, because both tracks this 'talent' appears on have no redeeming qualities. I believe 3 Deep is a group based on their name, but if they are, I can't distinguish one member from the next; there is absolutely no difference in cadence, flow, or tone if there really is more than one artist appearing on these tracks. In fact, Watch My Shoes is possibly the most asinine boast I've ever heard in hip-hop; the production, which sounds like hyphy meets snap, is equally grating. Do It Stick It is a bit better on the production tip, but nothing will stay in your head after listening to it, even the hook.

On the other end of the spectrum, while still painfully average, both Boosie and Webbie are slowly, but gradually improving. Boosie's voice is abit more tolerable on this release, most likely thanks to how little of it we have to hear compared to Bad Azz; Webbie is slowly becoming an enjoyable emcee. While Webbie gets no solo tracks on this album, he manages to outshine most of his Fam, although Boosie does tend to hold his own when it comes to this type of thing; Boosie's solo track, Thug Me Like That, is actually quite decent too.

Foxx maybe the best rapper in the entire Trill Fam; not a huge claim, but a claim, nonetheless.

Survival Of The Fittest is really a good album production wise from start to finish, and this is coming from a West Coast born and Raised music listener, 20+yrs btw!. The "rhymes" are decent to, and I DO recommend this album to anyone, but you do need a system for it to sound "right" otherwise you doing yours ears injustice!!!!!!!!!!
