Know a Nervous Dad to Be?,
By DJK ver 2.0 "Reader and Movie Buff" (Richardson, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dad's Survival Guide to Babies (Paperback)
Right off the bat, you should know this book won't teach you anything you don't already know about babies. Your first hint should be the cover. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't read this book. It exagerates everything known about being a Dad and having a new edition to the family. The best part of the book are the various lists, including, things to do before the baby is born; the newborn's schedule; equipment needed to change a diaper; and steps to changing a diaper. I laughed hard after each one. This is a great gift for any dad-to-be. My wife purchased this copy from Amazon for me about two months prior to our due date--just about the time I was finishing all the "guy's guide to pregnancy" type books. It's great fun, and I'd recommend it as a light hearted gesture for any new dad.

Reminds Me to Have a Sense of Humor About Life,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dad's Survival Guide to Babies (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this particular book. It was a funny look at the experience so many men have, and so many men have so little clue about. I dont' find the whole father deal so terrifying when I realize I can laugh about it - and I'm in good company. It isn't Doctor Spock, true, but then he never made me smile or laugh.

Ain't that the truth,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dad's Survival Guide to Babies (Paperback)
Speaking as someone with two children (ages 11 and 13, going on 20 and 37 respectively), I think this book nails the experience. From the goo children emit to the sulks they pitch at you, this one will make you laugh about it -- even if you can't change the facts of life.

Purchased this book for my brother as he and his wife were preparing for their first child. Humorous book with truthful undertones. I made a daddy diaper belt for him as illustrated on the front cover and stuck the book inside one of the tool belt pouches. It made for a great gift.

The add shows a kit but when they send it to you all you get is the book. The book is great but when I bought it I expected to get the whole kit.

I didn't actually read this book. It was a gift for my son, who is about to become a new father himself. However, I have read other books by Hunter Fulghum, and found them to be enjoyable and entertaining. I scanned this one and found things within my own experiences to be humorously recollected. From the responses I've received from my son, he thinks it was a gift well worth it.

My friends in Tulsa love it!,
By John Hadac (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dad's Survival Guide to Babies (Paperback)
Children are a joy and a blessing, but raising them can be a seemingly unending nightmare. So thank God for Robert Fulghum's uncommonly talented son Hunter. I grew up in family-oriented Tulsa, Oklahoma, but I learned nothing about child-rearing from the experience. A wise, slapstick-style child-rearing guide for my father might have changed so many things. Lucky for one and all that Hunter's diapers were changed by such a gifted, gifted man. Thank you, Fulghums!

No toy equals one star,
By John Hadac (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dad's Survival Guide to Babies (Paperback)
I first purchased this book over a year ago ... and before I know it all of Tulsa is talking about how much I like babies. I deeply resent the invasion of my privacy. It is well known that I do not care for babies or "Daddy books" and only purchased my copy as an insulting gag gift for a friend of mine who has since decided against adoption. What's worse, unlike "Baby" Fulghum's other books, this one did not even come with one of those free toys. Total rip.
