This was for our disaster pack. It's not as solid as I'd like, but for less than $20, it works as advertised. The nicest feature is the cell phone charger. It really works!

I bought this because of Hurricane Irene and had expected to lose power for days and would need a cell phone charger. I paid for expedited shipping and got it the day before the hurricane. Opened it, and there was NO adapter for the cell phone as pictured DESPITE WHAT IS SAYS IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION SECTION. On the box it says sold separately. Needless to say I was furious. The thing is cheap plastic and the crank seized up after three turns. I almost broke it getting the handle to turn again. I'm debating on whether or not to return it. I don't even know how to get the adapter I would need.

Since in the future I plan on traveling throughout the country and camping, this was a must have, although the charger only seems to want to charge sometimes, that doesn't bother me, the light works phenomenally, 4 white leds and one red, The radio only seems to pick up one radio station though, the one that is the strongest, although I suppose if there was an emergency bad enough to have to bust this out, every station would have something about it.

I bought two of these. Right out of the box I found neither one of them could hold any electrical charge. Once I stopped cranking, the light went out -- no use at all. I returned both of them. Obviously this is a quality control issue. As one prepared for emergency, you definitely want something reliable.

I bought this for an upcoming trip to Ecuador. The phone charger does not work, would not stay in the phone and is impossible to crank & hold the phone in the charger at the same time. Besides that, the radio works and the small flashlights, but I really didn't need since I have solar flash lights. The one thing I wanted it for was the emergency phone charger that does not work.

This is an awesome product for the price. Actually, this is "5 in 1" function.
The crank will generate emergency power to operate a cell phone (cord and many adaptor plugs included), or it becomes an emergency AM or FM radio, or run a rescue siren! Or operate a bright 5-LED flashlight (one is red). It is all smaller than a conventional flashlight, and fits easily and ergonomically into your hand. The AM and FM radio bands are remarkably clear, although the tuning dial is a little fuzzy. The siren is loud and sharp. It is very intuitive to use, but has excellent instructions. This is a "must have" item for campers, boaters, car trunks, and home power-outages. In any emergency, several minutes of cranking is all you need. The item will not fully charge a cell-phone, however. Yet it provides enough of an emergency charge to a depleted cell phone battery, allowing several minutes of talking (which is all you need in a real emergency). To talk more, crank it up again! It says "No Batteries Required," but there is one rechargeable internal 3.6 volt Lithium battery included, which might require replacement after hundreds of uses. At this price (under $20), I bought two, but will be ordering several more. They are great gifts for all your outdoorsmen (and outdoors-gals). |
