5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, January 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Survival, The Unidentified Stage of Grieving (Paperback)
I found this book to be wonderful...easy and quick to read. I read it twice in one weekend. Not your typical "cookbook" on how to grieve. It spoke of the realities of grieving. Very personal and I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't clinical. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An extrodinary view point on loss and grieving., November 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Survival, The Unidentified Stage of Grieving (Paperback)
I got my hands on a pre-released copy of Survival and it not only made a lot of sense but it made me cry. It was a personal yet informational book regarding life and death. A great book for those who have lost a loved one or someone who is in contact with someone who has lossed someone dear to them. I know this book is in limited availability so I definately would say get it while you can.

Bill Griggs (Lubbock, Texas 79493) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Survival, The Unidentified Stage of Grieving (Paperback)
I found this exceptional book very hard to read - for several reasons. You see, Tara Griggs is my niece, and she was writing about the loss of her father Alan, my little brother. The book was hard to read because it was as personal as it gets. I also found it hard to read because I couldn't believe my niece had it in her to write such a book, and do it as well as she did. I'm a writer (13 books and a magazine running 24 years), and her book was hard to read because I was following her story, reading her advice, and also watching her style of writing. I loved my little brother for many reasons, and Tara brought out those reasons in her book, and shared them with all of you. Her excellent work actually helped me, so I know it will help others that weren't connected so closely with the subject in the book and, therefore, can approach the advice and suggestions objectively. My young niece poured her heart out in this book in a straight forward well-organized manner so that she could help others. If you are grieving over the loss of a close family member or friend, take this book into a quiet room and read it, really read it. As Tara said, you really never get over the grieving process of a loved one, but you must learn to cope with it. It's called "Survival". Tara Griggs will show you how to survive and deal with it. I'm confident her book will be of help to you, as it was to me. (I love you Alan.)

5.0 out of 5 stars IT MADE ME FEEL LIKE I'M NOT ALONE, March 6, 2000
By
This review is from: Survival, The Unidentified Stage of Grieving (Paperback)
WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THE BOOK WAS THE IMPLIED FEELINGS OF BEING REUNITED WITH THE DECEASED, THOUGH NOT ACTUALLY STATED. AS THE BIBLE PROMISES THERE WILL BE A RESSURRECTION, THOSE WHO HAVE DIED LIKE HER FATHER AND MY HUSBAND AND MY FOUR CHILDREN'S FATHER ARE ASLEEP IN DEATH, AND WILL LIVE AGAIN ON THIS EARTH. REVELATION 21:4 " AND HE WILL WIPE OUT EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES, AND DEATH WILL BE NO MORE, NEITHER WILL MOURNING NOR OUTCRY OR PAIN BE ANYMORE. THE FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY."
