While the information in this book is useful, it is a bit outdated. I recommend Ragnar Benson's newer book, "Do-It-Yourself Medicine", which was written as an update to this book.

Ragnar's worst book ever. I own and value six others by him.
Devoid of useful information except for one concept, veterinarian medicines = human medicines, no prescription needed, dosages vary - check PDR, visit your local farm supply store.

A Great Book. Explains how to treat many diseases with
veterinary medicines. This man knows what he is talking about.
This book is written from his experience treating real people
in remote Africa and other far-away places. Ragnar has saved many lives with his knowledge and veterinary medicines.
A vital book for your emergency or survival library

The size of this book will shock you when it shows up, ment to be put in a tactical medic bag as part of your bugout bag i guess. Little out dated i guess, but Ragnar wrote another updated book a few years later: Do-It-Yourself Medicine

Everything he writes is great. If your not already a fan of Ragnar Benson, you will be once you buy and read a few of his books. I know nothing about being a medic besides basic first aid and CPR. Bought this books as well as his other books because of where i stand when it comes to our country and what is going on right now.

Very disappointed with this thick pamphlet. I am going to assume I made a silly misinterpretation of the description at the time of purchase.

I expected better from Ragnar Benson. This book is tiny (only slightly bigger than the picture on this site) and very, very short. For $12 I expected something much more substantial. I contains no useful tables or charts, no dosage suggestions... nothing. Virtually everything in it is basically common sense information that any reasonable person should be able to figure out by simply looking at the labels of various veterinary medicines. Save your money, and your time. I'll be returning this one.

It explains its purpose and it then proceeds to perform. You don't learn to perform open heart surgery, but you get a better idea of the medications that are important and what to look for. I use this when i am stocking a medicine cabinet, or emergency cabinet

All this tells the reader is to go out animal meds for human illnesses because the meds are the same
I really wanted a guide Diagnosis process - med type - and Dosing. I'm hoping Do it yourself Medicine gives me more info.

I found this book to be excellent. Just what I needed.
