5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely a nursing student must-have
I LOVED this book. It is well written, easy to read with a bit of humor thrown in. I am already finding myself turning to this book again and again as a resource. Along with advice on surviving nursing school and getting the most from your clinical experience, she goes into searching for that first job, resumes, and a little bit of everything. I really think she...

I really think she touches on everything. In addition, she lists many fantastic websites for everything from financial aid to nursing affiliations. She really covers all the bases. I can't say enough about it and think every nursing student should read this book.

This book was completely amazing. Fun to read, extremely informative, lots of information about not only beginning nursing school but getting through until the end! Lots of great quotes, tons of resources (some chapters have a couple dozen helpful websites listed!)and information I use every day.

Not only the most helpful book I've read about nursing school, but also the best career guide in general I've seen!

I can't say enough about this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read Before Starting Nursing School, June 18, 2008

I recently got accepted into nursing school and wanted some basic information on what to expect before, during, and after nursing school and this book has it all! It answered all of my questions and made me laugh during the process! It covers everything from how to choose the best school, to how to deal with the stresses of work, school, and your personal life, techniques on how to study and make the most of your valuable time, tips on test taking, how to get the most out of clinicals, NCLEX enrollment and preparation ... like I said it has it all. One of the best parts is that after each section the author gives a list of resources on what was covered! A must buy!! I definetely see myslef referring back to this book again and again, a truly great investment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, February 18, 2007
This review is from: How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Nursing School!: A Guide for Students by Students 2nd Edition (Paperback)
I liked the books honesty but it also was a bit dramatic. Things are probably not quite as bad as it says at times yet at other times I am sure it is for some people. The key to nursing is finding the area to go into that best fits your personality. The good thing about a nursing career is that there are so many diverse areas in the profession that you can take up.

I just finished a really stressful term in NS. I started reading this book and it was such a mood booster! I love it! :) I recommend this to EVERYONE: someone who's looking into a nursing school, someone who's about to start, someone who's stressed out, someone who needed coping mechanisms... etc etc! This book has some really funny things in it and makes you really feel like you're not alone. I can't thank this author enough!! I really needed this book. Now I'm going to pass it on to a friend and hopefully they will do the same! :)

GO OUT AND BUY IT! <3

My husband is a second (or third) career nursing student and he is really glad to have this book after his first semester. He has three left to go, but because of many science classes he needed to take, he has been in school several years already. He enjoyed this as a light way of looking at things in the midst of being so busy.

Im 26 years old. I start nursing school in one month. I ordered this a few weeks ago, and i forced myself to read it, ONLY because i paid nearly [...] for it.
I think this book would have been great ten years ago, when i was in high school contemplating becoming a nurse.
But by now i pretty much know the basic information she gives (in high school i was clueless).
This book is more her corny opinions with a few quotes here and there from supposed actual students.
I found myself rolling my eyes and thinking oh just shuuuuuuuuuuut upppp. as i was reading it. is that mean? well, im just being honest.i told u i was only reading it cuz i paid for it, and i just didnt like it.
i read the reviews here and hoped this book wouldve helped me, and i tried to ignore the negative comments. and now im one of them.
dont waste your money, but if you are buying it for a young kid in high school, it mite be ok.

3.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, January 7, 2007
This review is from: How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Nursing School!: A Guide for Students by Students 2nd Edition (Paperback)
I bought this book wanting to find out a little more about nursing school before I started. I don't think it gave me any info I didn't already know except for the websites. That part of the book was good. I think this book would do a good job at scaring away individuals who are thinking about going to nursing school because it is somewhat negative in the fact that it says alot about being overworked as a nurse and stressed out constantly. I guess it's better to be honest about the profession than to sugar coat it.
