5.0 out of 5 stars This one IS one of the "all time greatest!!!" July 19, 2005
Format:Audio CD
If you are into thrash/speed/death metal, THIS ONE IS A MUST!!! Nuclear Assault has their own style, and this one is the Mona Lisa of that. This one IS up there with Reign in Blood, Bonded by Blood, Peace Sells (but who..."cares?"- haha), Darkness Descends, etc., etc..

Survive is even far better than Among the Living, and anyone who knows Anthrax AT ALL "knows" that this is Anthrax's very best. So if that doesn't tell you about this recording, then I guess "nothing will."

In short, Sony HAD to take this one out of print because NO ONE WAS BUYING ANYTHING ELSE- therefore making it where Sony had this huge stockpile of The Plague, Game Over, etc., and "couldn't sell any of them." All anyone wanted was Survive, which is why it's out of print now, and now we are having to fight like starving dogs to get it on Ebay, because no one can get it anywhere else!- I even talked to Glenn Evans about this, and HE even had to buy it off of Ebay for $50!!! "Believe it or not!"

Before I take off, Handle with Care is just short of Survive, BUT THERE IS ONLY "1" SURVIVE!!! (like there is only 1 Reign in Blood, and I think we all know that Slayer wont beat that one ever again, "let alone equal it") Til next time....

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and thrashy at it's best....... November 8, 1999
Format:Audio CD
Easily the best produced album for Nuclear Assault. These thrasher pioneers put out their best work on this album. Intense guitars (not too flashy) with pounding drum work by Glenn Evans (very underrated drummer). I wish the rest of N.A.'s albums had this type of sound production. This is still one of my favorite albums along with Game Over and Slayer's - Reign in Blood. Long live thrash metal.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Nuclear Assault - Survive July 14, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Survive was the second full-length studio album by the East Coast Thrash Metal band Nuclear Assault, released in 1988, following up on 1987's excellent The Plague EP and their classic 1986 debut album Game Over.

Nuclear Assault are a superb band that every Thrash fan at least has to try out and whom many will love. The band featuring Dan Lilker of Anthrax, S.O.D and Brutal Truth on bass. Their lyrical style is a mixture between occasional humour and primarily socially conscious or political themes.

They play a Thrash Style closer to D.R.I than to Slayer, but still big on guitar solos and speed and unmistakably on the Metal side rather than on the Punk side. They are big advocates of gang-chanting backing vocals and alongside their Thrash, add in some almost ahead-of-their-time grooves and some proto-grindcore bursts of blasts occasionally as well.

This is one of the most overlooked and underrated Thrash albums of all time in a way, as it has in a sense fallen into obscurity due to a lack of reissues over the years, but in another way it is a cult classic and is beloved and spoken fondly of by many true fans of the band and the genre. No Nuclear Assault concert after this album's release would ever be complete without at least a quarter of the track listing making the set.

Stylistically, it is something of a midway point for the band, sitting less in the crossover/punk scene than the band's earliest days, but not as fast and heavy as the band's more extreme follow up album `Handle With Care.' This allows for a memorable and diverse set of well-written and expertly performed songs, which is improved upon yet further with a slightly better production job than their previous work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very ambitious!!!! March 30, 2006
Format:Audio CD
Nuclear Assault's best along with "Handle with care". Back in a day i get this gem on cassette, but now is out of print and the only copies around expense your wallet. This group shows their talent here, with chaotic thrashing riffs, with the characterictic hardcore influence. The vocals are impresive. So this record is history, get it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the top five best metal albums ever September 24, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is the best album by one of metal's greatest bands. The songs range from mosh to total hardcore. "Fight to Be Free" is an all-time classic. The lyrics are great. I wore out two cassettes of this album before finding it new on CD a few months ago (I got very, very lucky). If it's back in print, grab it as fast as you can!

5.0 out of 5 stars Re-Release this alblum NOW!!!! December 29, 1998
Format:Audio CD
This is one of the best alblums Nuclear Assault has ever made. Unfortunately it is out of print. The songs on this alblum represent the golden years of thrash metal. I purchased it in cassette form when it first came out and it has been worn out and I wish to replace it with a cd. Also other good titles are "Handle with care", and the EP "fight to be free". Both are not even listed and these were also great LP/EP. The song brainwashed has also been aired on MTV (Headbangers Ball) during the 80's.

Nuclear Assault's "Survive" is the one of the most underated and overlooked metal albums of all time. During the late 1980's it got lost in the glut of all these wanna be poser hair bands as well as being overshadowed by the likes of Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth. From listening to it is like getting hit over the head with a sledgehammer. It's too bad it's still out of print and costs an arm and a leg for a used copy. I've bought my out of print copy off here for $60.00 and to me it's worth every penny. I keep my copy of Survive in a secret place under lock and key (he! he!)! I've seen Nuclear Assault live 3x when they got back together at various metalfests and let me tell you they blew the roof off the goddamn place! NA falls into the same category as Sacred Reich as one of the most overlooked and underated metal bands of all time. Both bands are similar with similar subject material and now have CDs that are out of print with their used ones costing an arm and a leg. Happy Hunting Folks!
