Book Description

Sharks Are Flying at Your Head at 300 mph.
How Will You Survive?

In the apocalyptic world we live in, Mother Nature is angry. Danger waits at every turn, and catastrophes like the Los Angeles sharknados have taught us that we need to be ready for anything. Too many lives have already been lost.

But fear not. How to Survive a Sharknado and Other Unnatural Disasters is the first and only comprehensive guide to surviving the very worst that Mother Nature can throw our way. Inside this life-saving reference, you'll find:
  • Vital information about dozens of unnatural disasters and ungodly monsters that can injure, maim, or kill you, from arachnoquakes and ice twisters to piranhacondas and mega pythons;
  • Easy-to-understand survival tips for avoiding a bloody demise;
  • Inspirational words of wisdom from survivors, including Fin Shepard and April Wexler;
  • Useful resources, such as the Shepard Survival Assessment Test (S.S.A.T), and much more.
With this essential book in hand, you too can be a hero who laughs in the face of calamity while saving friends and family. Or you can just avoid getting savagely ripped apart by a sharktopus. Either way, you've been warned. Now be prepared.

Sharknado 2: The Second One premieres July 30 at 9/8c on Syfy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious How To Guide From A First Class Humorist July 12, 2014
Format:Paperback
If you loved Sharknado and the quirky, we're all in on the joke humor of the film, then you will adore How To Survive A Sharknado. This book is the perfect birthday present or stocking stuffer for the Sharknado afficianado in your life. Satire and tongue in cheek wit run rampant through the how to guide many of us secretly hope we might need one day.

5.0 out of 5 stars I AM NOW PREPARED! July 9, 2014
Format:Paperback
I was blessed by Poseidon to read this before its release. We all know Sharknados and most disasters happen in early July. Luckily no disasters happened...yet. Now I am at least prepared for “Beeclipses”, “Ghostsharks”, “Mongolian Death Worms”, and when winter comes I now know what to do during an “Ice Twister”.

The Book was really fun. Shaffer balanced out being funny but still smart as I enjoyed the Moby Dick excerpt to give info into the “Elektrokraken”. This is very much a book for anyone who doesn’t just love Sharkando but other movies that play on Saturday night on Syfy. Some of the scenarios Shaffer wrote about surviving would actually make great B movies. Great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars It takes a strong man to make a tender dinoshark July 9, 2014
Format:Paperback
I have to assume that the current lack of reviews are because, like me, everyone else is having trouble finding a way to put into words how great this book is.

It would have been so easy to get a book like this wrong. It could have been a dry encyclopedia of "unnatural disasters", or could have disrespected the source material, or could have been little more than a heavily padded cash-grab.

Thankfully it is none of those things. It is hilarious while playing straight with the source material and dense with background, tips, and everything else that you might need to survive modern menaces short of a chainsaw.
