The best on coping with cancer,
By A Customer
This review is from: Surviving Cancer Emotionally: Learning How to Heal (Paperback)
In the two years that my spouse has been diagnosed with breast cancer I have been searching for a book that could give she and our family a sense of realistic hope based on solid information and psychological sophistication. I finally found it. This book provides a warm, empathic intelligent explanation of all the emotional aspects of cancer and how to deal with them. It's a must read.

Surviving Cancer was easy to read and understand, yet packed with useful information for anyone who has had cancer or a loved one with cancer. It was a comforting and useful guide through such an uncertain, scary time. I found it to be the only book on the market to help with the emotional side of dealing with cancer. You won't be disappointed!!

Can't say enough good things about this book. Does a fine job of exploring all the emotional facets of treatment, diagnosis, grief, and live after cancer. I go back to it again and again when I'm having trouble dealing.

I have given many copies of Surviving Cancer Emotionally to family and friends who have gone through the cancer experience. They say that the book has been a faithful companion during the various stages and has made them realize that their reactions are typical of feelings that are normal.

a wonderful resource for survivors and all those who support them,

I use this book often in my psychotherapy practice. As the author explains, cancer changes our lives both physically and emotionally. Understanding the psychological component of cancer can be very helpful for those trying to cope with the diagnosis. Dr. Granet is a psychiatrist who draws on two decades of experience specializing in work with cancer patients. He explains what patients and their family members can expect as they journey through each phase of treatment.
Sections include: -Dealing with the diagnosis -Finding the coping style that's right for you -Handing the many demands of treatment -Knowing when to ask for how-- and how to find it -Surviving and coming to terms with a different you -Handling the fear of recurrence A beautiful and compassionate offering about how to cope with a frightening illness and "turn it into a positive catalyst for embracing life". Highly, highly recommended. |
