This is a great book for anyone unfamiliar with the ER. But read it before you go, well in advance.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Andy O'Hara on December 27, 2010
Format: Paperback
Concise, to the point and honest are the best descriptors for Dr. Ron Clark's book on "expecting the unexpected" in the emergency room. Some of what he tells us is a little startling, but he gains the reader's confidence quickly by his comfortable, reassuring style and leads them through the inner workings that most of us never notice. I was most interested to learn some of the goings-on that explain the delays, the confusion, the lack of communication and the ways in which the patient can exercise some control in how things turn out. By no means can one expect a trip to the emergency room to be a pleasant experience--but reading Dr. Clark's book can at least help understand it and take a little of the frustration out of it!
