Book Description

August 4, 2005
Surviving Unemployment will help you at every turn of your unemployment experience. The book begins by helping you recover from your initial job loss trauma, then it moves onto inspiring your day to day activities, including finding and getting a job. Finally it provides relaxations and affirmations that are specifically written for the job hunter. When you are unemployed it is not only your task to get a new job, but it is also your task to be content and confident during the time you are unemployed. This book is about not feeling alone and dreading the extra time that you are suddenly given, it is about feeling your best when you go on job interviews despite the fact that you really want the job and your inner negative voice is saying you're not qualified. In other words it is about living life mindfully, while you wait for your work life to start again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get your sense of your 'whole' self back after being unemployed!, October 3, 2005

This review is from: Surviving Unemployment: Staying Centered While Your World Turns Upside Down (Paperback)
I read this book after being out of job for a month when my true self was not seeing clearly. This book gave me a roadmap back into financial and mental sanity.
After I got my sanity back, the book helped me obtain the job that I was looking for with a
positive attitude. This book is an easy read.
The suggestions and knowledge gained from reading this book, can be used once on the job again.
This is a timely self-help book for the times, I am now experiencing, in the fast technological transformation in the global employment and hiring practices of companies.
Thanks, Valerie Pederson for writing this book at this time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lengthy Tome and Pricey to Boot, May 3, 2006
By
This review is from: Surviving Unemployment: Staying Centered While Your World Turns Upside Down (Paperback)
Okay info but "Unemployment Boot Camp:Tactics for Surviving and Thriving in the 21st Century," by R.A. Long is better, kitschier book for half the price! Brief and to-the-point, "Unemployment Boot Camp" offers action steps and interactive exercises in a boot camp theme that's geared toward overcoming the often paralyzing emotions that accompany job loss. It was a quick read with clear and doable steps that helped me refocus my energies on feeling good and in control for the first time in a long time since being given the boot from corporate America.
