I am a trainer of foster care families and feel this book is an opportunity to get inside the world of a foster child. This author did a great job of sharing her very real perceptions of her journey through the "system". Great insights to the need to stick with kids and hear and understand with throught their eyes what living with strangers is like.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!! I got this book last night and stayed up all night..there was no way I could put it down. Cathy writes in a style that makes you feel that the two of you are sitting with a cup of coffee and she is telling you about her horrific childhood. This is a true story and Cathy has included documents to reinforce the facts of where she was placed as a child. Cathy lived and has survived a childhood that should never have happened.....it should never happen to ANYONE! We should all read this book and start digging into foster care and fight to have changes made to this system. Cathy's childhood happened to her, she was nothing but a pawn in so many hands...never having any say on what was happening to her life. I have many other books on the subject of foster care/adoption/child abuse and this is among the top 3. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone but I do urge you all to read about her terrible but fascinating childhood. I would not have survived. Would you? You'll have to read the book and make your own decision. Make sure you are ready to stay up all night because YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!

I love this book. It shows how much a child can suffer and nobody listens. I am a foster parent, and we have s special child that we have. We are in the final stage of adoption at this time. However our child is a male. He was abused from the time he was 2 months by his bio parents. The state removed him and his brother. They were adopted by a family and that didn't go well. The boys were given up in 2010 and 2011. Our child has a lot of RAD problems which I find rather similar to Cathy's problem. I might add that he has ADHD, depression along with it. This is a great book and I think everyone should read it.
