About the Author

Born in California, Steve Moore reversed the adage Go west, young man, spending twelve years in South America before settling in the Northeast. His training as a mathematician and physicist and his interest in robotics, genetics, and scientific ethics are evident in this techno-thriller. He and his wife, who supports his many idiosyncrasies with infinite patience, now make their home in New Jersey.

More About the Author

Mysteries? Thrillers? Sci-fi? I've written them. I've also created many interesting characters in my fiction, both antagonists and protagonists. I don't necessarily respect genre boundaries, though, in my zeal to provide you a good and entertaining story--quality entertainment at a reasonable price!
Born in California, I reversed the adage "Go west, young man," spending twelve years in South America and seeing some of the world before settling in the Northeast U.S. My travels provided me the opportunity to study people and cultures often portrayed in my work while my scientific background helps me make the creations of my imagination seem all the more real. I've specialized in socially relevant stories that bridge the thriller, suspense, and sci-fi genres. I now dedicate full time to writing with sixteen adult novels and one novel for young adults. I have four different series going: "The Mary Jo Melendez Mysteries," "The Detectives Chen & Castilblanco Series," "The Clones and Mutants Trilogy," and "The Chaos Chronicles Trilogy," plus other ebooks not in those series. Three short story collections are also available. For a more extensive bio, visit me at my website http://stevenmmoore.com where you will also find an active blog containing op-ed, reviews, interviews, and comments on the writing life, as well as short stories to stimulate your imagination. The blog also features the online newsletter "News and Notices from the Writing Trenches," available most Fridays. That and the website in general often feature news about sales and deals for my ebooks. Thank you for your interest in my ebooks...and me! Remember: I love to hear from readers and writers.

Format: Paperback
Author Steve M. Moore knows how to transport readers into other worlds.

SURVIVORS OF THE CHAOS, the first book in his Science Fiction "The Chaos Chronicles Trilogy," depicts a disconcerting yet rousing future for humanity. In his vision, civilization passes through a social singularity, where long-established empires, such as the United States, the European Union, and China shatter, yet large corporations somehow manage to merge and make bigger their sphere of influence beyond our tiny solar system.

Moore knows all about transferring one's sphere of influence beyond known borders. Having lived twelve years in South America before resettling in Massachusetts, he embedded his roots as a mathematician and physicist, and he developed an intriguing interest in robotics, genetics, and scientific ethics. All the while, Moore stoked his imagination with the grand Science Fiction movies of the 1950s and 1960s. Those filmic influences cast heavy shadows over his musings about a possible world future driven by his concept of social singularity, and those imaginings manifest themselves in this bold, multi-layered scenario called SURVIVORS OF THE CHAOS. Reading the book feels like watching a futuristic movie. Get a bag of popcorn ready, kick back, and enjoy the ride. As a reader, you are about to take off into unimagined realms.

This book is a page turner. Readers steeped in current literature will appreciate the brevity of scenes that burst in front of you with a blinding flash of startling detail and then exit as quickly as a comet streaking through the night sky. He ensnares you aboard a mental roller coaster catapulting over the hills and valleys of a world gone mad. Be his reluctant hero for a few hours.

Format: Paperback
Steven Moore's Survivors of the Chaos is a well written sci-fi novel detailing a dismal future for the human race. I find apocalyptic novels have become tiresome, as have zombies and vampires. Personally, I like to read a futuristic novel that has at least some elements of potential realism to it. Survivors of Chaos skips the end of the world scenario and leaps just over a century into our future--a future where the empires of the developed world have crumbled leaving a society bordering on anarchy. Some rudiments of our society remain intact including corporate driven greed and human kind's scientific curiosity to further advance itself on Earth and in space. Individuals are left to struggle in a world segregated by two separate classes of rich and poor. These are the three facets of society that provide the framework for Moore's story. In particular, the lives of three distinctly different people are followed independently, with the story cleverly tying them together later in the book. Action scenes are strategically placed to keep the pace moving and the book wraps up on an upbeat note.

As for constructive criticism for the author, I found there was an overuse of acronyms to the point that it was difficult to keep track of what they all stood for. Also, the book would have benefited from an introductory blurb to describe the structure of the world after the Chaos in some detail. The reader ultimately pieces together Moore's futuristic vision but I found this took away slightly from the story at the beginning. For those who enjoy sci-fi and are tired of the typical plot recipe so many sci-fi novels draw from, Survivors of the Chaos is both refreshing and enjoyable.

Survivors of the Chaos is really 3 stories put together, linked by a common origin (if not setting) and some overlapping characters. Humanity has evolved or devolved to an extreme of have and have-nots, where society is ruled by money more than anything else.
I liked the premise, and found the exploration of this scenario fresh and interesting. I did, however, wish that the stories were filled out some to have a bit of a conclusion or at least some tying up of threads. I want to know more about the colony, and what did happen to Ms. Wong?

I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it. More on Zeb Lane is included in the author's short story book Fantastic Encores!.

The book is chock-full with action. The author is obviously well-versed in contemporary history and very skillful at merging reality and fiction to such a point that the difference between both planes becomes very very blurry. The book already starts on fast-motion mode, but shortly afterwards gains incredibly further momentum and pulls you in and out of reality in a frantic way. The future is presented in a disquieting fashion, but taking into account how the world is evolving it rings a very real bell. If you like action, good construction of characters, a stylishly written story with a sustainable plot that keeps you on pins and needles up until the very hard-to-predict ending, this is a book you definitely shouldn't miss.
