Describes the life of the early women's rights activist who fought for women's right to vote.
Gr 6-8--This fact-filled account provides insight into this woman's exciting life. Kendall portrays her subject as a visionary who wanted a role in society and the vote for women even though the mores and the laws of the time dictated otherwise. The author traces Anthony's Quaker roots; her education; travels; and numerous campaigns for women's property rights, suffrage, the right to divorce, the right to hold political office, and the abolition of slavery. Archival black-and-white photographs add interest. A compelling and well-documented biography.
