5.0 out of 5 stars A Touching Account of The American Dream
This book is a fantastic account of Susan Boyle's less than mundane life turned astonishing in a matter of hours. Her biography takes a detailed look at her unsuspected fairy-tale from the humble roots of her Scottish village to SuBo mania and her visit to America.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sloppily written book about a FABULOUS person, April 20, 2010
This book was one of the greatest disappointments of my reading life :(

I think Susan Boyle is just FANTASTIC, and I was hoping to find some inspiration in the book - but it is a badly written, sloppily got together "hash up" of bits and pieces of info about Susan and her life.

There are many instances where the info is repeated word for word from chapter to chapter.

VERY boring, VERY unimpressive - what a pity, as the author had a most extraordinary and inspiring person to write about.

The subtitle "The Unauthorised Biography" is pretty apt - Susan and her entourage would have taken one read of it, and said "NO - NOT GOOD ENOUGH"

I will be buying and reading Susan's own acct now, and I expect it will be FAR FAR better.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Touching Account of The American Dream, February 9, 2010
This review is from: Susan Boyle: Dreams Can come True (Hardcover)
This book is a fantastic account of Susan Boyle's less than mundane life turned astonishing in a matter of hours. Her biography takes a detailed look at her unsuspected fairy-tale from the humble roots of her Scottish village to SuBo mania and her visit to America.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the intimate glances of Susan Boyle, the ordinary woman--the views of the 48 year old on the road, going through a make over, publicly discussing her learning disabilities, interacting with celebrities, and recalling the pains of her childhood. Some of the moments so eloquently described by the writer sent chills down my spine similar to those from when I first watched her video on youtube.

Although this is a biography, it reads like a non-fiction fairy tale. Boyle is a real-life Cinderella. She 's lived the dream and stunned the world with her talent, and her story is a touching testament to the delicate power of the human spirit.

Just as I found myself crying a bit watching Ms. Boyle's performance on that tiny You-Tube video that swept the world I cried reading this amazing and inspirational story. We should never lose hope in our dreams and we each have amazing God-given talents as Ms. Boyle is proof. I loved this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow as in Wonderful, April 5, 2010

The English language is not adequate to describe Susan Boyle's voice and her first terrific album. This book tells the story behind her remarkable rise to stardom. Her angelic voice, discovered on Britain's Got Talent back last spring, is brought to perfection in her first album ranging from pop to religious to show tunes. Boyle's voice is superb--clear, controlled, beautifully projected and all around marvelous. It is nice to read something about her sheltered life as this bombshell hit. Her first album has set all kinds of sales records, and I for one, will buy any album she records in the future. Here's hoping we can see a long line of albums from this lovely lady of Scotland--maybe a collection of only show tunes like Memories, You'll Never Walk Alone, Climb Every Mountain, Some Enchanted Evening, the list goes on. Or, perhaps all religious selections such as Ave Maria, The Lord's Prayer, Panis Angelicus, Oh Divine Redeemer. Anything she sings is bound to be a treat. Her road has not been easy and this book tells it as it was, and is. It is a heart warming story to realize not only does Susan possess a voice out of this world as in angelic, but she is realizing the dream of achieving her life-long ambition of singing to the world. Her life has been truly remarkable, and this book explores beyond the shallow scandal sheets and hot type headlines.

Never let them get you down, Susan, Brava, Sing on forever.

Good book except the author repeats words and phrases and the book is somewhat boring in that respect.

Other books on Susan Boyle may be better!

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspirational, vivid story, May 18, 2010
This review is from: Susan Boyle: Dreams Can come True (Hardcover)
Susan Boyle: Dreams Can Come True offers the first biography of the singing star who provided an eye-opening performance in last year's 'Britain's Got Talent' competition, and is a pick for any general lending library, especially those strong in popular music. Her story charts her Scottish roots and the events and people that led to her development. Singing has always been her passion: this tells how her passion evolved. An inspirational, vivid story.

This was too hurriedly written to coincide with Susan Boyle's instant success in the music world. Many mistakes were made in the writing craft which detracted from the worthiness of the project.
