Great tone quality - rich and not tinny or breathy. Easily tuneable for ensemble playing. I've been playing these on the renfaire circuit for over 10 years and I adore them. They are a great mix of "great sound" and "cheap enough that I don't mind taking them out in all weathers". Susatos are the stock-in-trade of most of the faire musicians I know.
You may find a better whistle, but you'll never find a better $20 whistle!
