this is a great way to learn how to make sushi at home. we enjoyed the tape very much, and made a great sushi dinner afterwards. it's very easy to follow the instructions, and it even comes with coupons for a free recipe booklet and a bamboo roller (to make sushi rolls). the chef is very knowledgeable and the rice came out great too!

This Video covered everything I wanted to know about making sushi, from hand rolls and cut rolls to sushi and sashimi and even the perfect sticky rice. Chef Shig Chiba is a great chef and great teacher. He shows some wonderful tips and tricks that makes it so easy to follow along - Sushi making has never been so easy. Even my children learned how to make hand rolls right along side of me during the last section of the video intended for kids.

Tricks of the Trade,

This review is from: Sushi Made at Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is exactly the video I was looking for! I learned all the basics of sushi making from the perfect sticky rice to the most incredible spicy sauce. Anyone can easily make sushi at home after watching this video. The rice-ball trick was very clever and makes sushi making so simple. My hand rolls and cut rolls are getting better each time I watch the tape. I highly recommend this tape to everyone! PS - The suggestions for hand roll fillings aren't just for kids.

Good direction - good tips,

This video is pretty good. Shig Chiba is great as a sushi-chef. The video could have gave more examples of making makizushi and nigirizushi. They could have left out the lady and kids. I want to see a sushi-master chef, not stupid kids. I will try to view this video again. Other sushi videos I have viewed are much better. I would like to see if Shig Chiba has other video's on Japanese cooking.

The way he make sushi not to detail to fast and very short time. And the dynamic sushi maker on the front of this video is making at home video quality and general non profesionalism. This could be make by camcoder....two stupid kids its really annoying me.

I love Sushi! This video showed me the secrets of making restaurant quality sushi at home any night of the week. The most useful hints were on slicing the fish and preparing the rice. BUY THIS VIDEO!
