5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Performance By Christiane Heggan!

1.0 out of 5 stars too easy
Two thirds of the way through this book I gave up and read the ending because I had long ago guessed the conclusion and was tired of how slowly the plot was unraveling--not a good aspect of a "ghost story." In addition, authors run a big risk when writing about writers and the process of writing and Heggan does not pull if off here at all. There is a tone of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Performance By Christiane Heggan!, December 16, 2000
This review is from: Suspicion (Paperback)
I was so happy when I came upon, "Suspicion." I love mystery novels a lot and I was running out of them to read. Luckily, I discovered Christiane Heggan. "Suspicion" was my first Heggan novel and I loved it so much that I already am beginning another one right now.

Kate Logan, a tough defense attorney, is selected to represent two separate people. One is her ex-husband who is charged with killing a prositute and the other person is Kate's housekeeper's son, who is charged with killing his girlfriend. Kate knows that both are innocent and decides to start her own investigation. She soon becomes suspicious and feels that the prositute and the girlfriend was murdered by the same person. Soon Kate is being stalked and attacked by the murderer. Kate along with police officer, Mitch Calhoun, must bring down this group of murderers before Kate's friends who are charged with murder go to jail for life. Congratulations to Mrs. Heggan because she made it to my list of favorite authors!

Story moved right along. I liked suspense but thought the author could have eliminated the ending chapters. Once reader knows "who done it" the ending chapters seemed unimportant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic suspense at its' very finest, November 23, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Suspicion (Paperback)
Washington DC defense attorney Kate Logan is shook after her client, Tony Fuente, is convicted of murdering Lilly, a law clerk from Kate's firm. To prepare for the appeal, Kate decides to dig into Lilly's investigation of a prostitute ring. As she struggles with helping Tony, her former spouse Eric was being blackmailed by a prostitute, who is now dead. Eric is the prime suspect. Because of the pleadings of Alison, her estranged daughter, Kate agrees to help Eric prove his innocence.

Police detective Mitch Calhoon is also looking into both cases even though his expert testimony helped convict Tony. While, he and Kate work together trying to insure that justice is served, they become attracted to one another. However, some powerful folks in the city want the truth to stay hidden and if that means killing Mitch, Kate, and Alison, so be it.

SUSPICION is an exciting, fast-paced romantic suspense whose dual story lines successfully blend together into a fabulous mystery. The lead protagonists are phenomenal individuals struggling with their professional and personal lives, while trying to come to grips over their growing attraction to each other. Already highly regarded for her contemporary suspense novels, Christiane Heggan enhances that reputation with a story that will intrigue readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, October 2, 2006

This is my first atempt at this author and I was not disapointed. I found the book very engaging. They had well rounded characters and a great plot. I would not call this book a "Romantic Suspense" tho. I found the romance lacking. Kate and Mitch did not seem to spend alot of time together, but I still enjoyed this book fairly well. I do like to mix up my reading between romance and mystery. But I was told it was a romantic suspense but found it not to be so. But given that I will be giving her a try again. Good suspense. Good characters. Good book

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic and Suspensful!, January 8, 2003
This review is from: Suspicion (Paperback)
"Suspicion," by Christine Heggan, is both romantic and suspenseful. The characters are well-developed, the dialogue easy to follow, and, the plot exciting. A very thrilling combination.

1.0 out of 5 stars too easy, July 14, 2000
This review is from: Suspicion (Paperback)
Two thirds of the way through this book I gave up and read the ending because I had long ago guessed the conclusion and was tired of how slowly the plot was unraveling--not a good aspect of a "ghost story." In addition, authors run a big risk when writing about writers and the process of writing and Heggan does not pull if off here at all. There is a tone of know-it-allness that I found too annoying to get around. The most damaging thing of all -- this book wasn't scary.
