5.0 out of 5 stars Where is the rest of it?, February 13, 2006
This review is from: Sutherland-Horne- Pavarotti "Live From Lincoln Center" (Audio CD)
When DECCA issued this recording in the LP era it came in 2 LPs and COMPLETE. I have no idea who decided to omit the arias but it was a big, BIG mistake. Horne sang a terrific "Mura felici" from la Donna del Lago that alone would be worth the price of a double album. Sutherland sang the aria from I Masnadieri and Pavarotti the unmissable aria from La Bohéme. I really hope one day (sooner than later) DECCA will reissue this concert COMPLEEEEETEEEEEE!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant music making. There ought to be a video of this available, January 25, 2006

Sorry, but I humbly disagree with other reviewers here. Dame Joan, in 1981, was still singing fantastically. The age is somewhat apparent, but... who cares! That sound! I love Marilyn Horne in this period, and Pavarotti is fantastic. But what really moves me about the whole package is Joan Sutherland. I adore Marilyn Horne in the basso cantante role: this is the turn that makes this trio fantastic: no wobbly bass! Brava Tutti.

5.0 out of 5 stars Operatic Concert of the Century, December 20, 2005
By
Ron Napier (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sutherland-Horne- Pavarotti "Live From Lincoln Center" (Audio CD)
This was dubbed the Concert of the Century and captured Pavarotti and Horne in their prime. As some have suggested, Dame Joan may have been past her prime, but her voice was still strong and brilliant.
