Suunto M3 Wrist-Top Sailing and Windsurfing Computer Watch

What you see is what your get: huge numbers that are easy to read while counting down the start. Light, comfortable to wear and nice looks. Two defects: (1) no protection for the glass and (2) it is not as simple to use as its functions would imply which, together with a deficient manual, makes it hard to operate taking advantage of all its functions.

If what you are looking for is a large number format countdown timer with nice looks this is it.

It is a good watch for windsurfing.
Its only problem is a very poor instruction manual

I have used my watch regularly while sailing on a Laser for about 3 years. I am very happy with it.
PROS - Large numbers very easy to read
Can set timer to the countdown you need. So it works with any start sequence you may encounter.
The buttons are not easy to press preventing accidental button press stopping your countdown during the start.
It is easy to replace the battery yourself and still be waterproof.
Rotating compass bezel to determine favored end of the line. (I have had no problem with numbers coming off as another reviewer had).

CONS - Instruction manual is not the greatest. I read and just kept pressing buttons until I figured it out.
The buttons are not easy to press, which makes me doubt myself if I pressed it right until I see the sequence start. But I'd rather this then have the sequence stop because of an accidental button press from my sailing gloves.

I would give it five stars if the operation/instructions were easy to understand.

Great watch except for one thing. The numbers around the bevel have been painted on with some cheap white paint that begin to disappear w/in a few days of use rendering the "favoured end of the starting line" feature/calculator completely useless. You quickly start to get just a black band around the edge.

I've coated the remaining numbers with clear nail polish to see if it does anything but its really annoying to see such a cheap piece of work on what is otherwise a great watch.

The M3 is probably a great watch, but the manual is so minimalist that I'll prob never figure it out. It really needs a menu hierarchy/map so you can figure out where to find the various functions.

I really liked my suunto M3. But sadly it's at the bottom of Kielder Water.

Pros:

Lovely clear numbers
Only shows what you want to know - count down alone, count down and time, count down and stop watch
Comfy to wear
Easy to use (& the manual is fine)
Simple battery change

Cons:

It did fall off my wrist, but only after I removed and (apparently) failed to replace the strap properly
It's aluminium not stainless so scratches easily
The "crystal" is plastic so scratches easily
The numbers wear off the bezel quite quickly
The count down bleeper is a bit quiet (but I am quite deaf)
It's only 30m depth resistance - why? on a sailing watch? Suunto make dive computers that go down 100s of meters; presumably they want you to buy one of those too, presumably!

and lastly:

The rotten swine at Suunto have stopped making it! They want you to spend more and buy a yachtsman presumably. And the M3 was just so much nicer. Bad move Suunto!

O Produto é muito bom e atende bem as minhas expectativas, porém fica uma única e importantissima ressalva:
- O relogio não tem bussola e o recurso de auxilio a largadas precisa ser ferido de acordo com o posicionamento que a bussola dá, então, desta forma, o recurso em questão torna-se ineficiente sem uma bussola.
