5.0 out of 5 stars This is hands-on
Reading the Nine Steps To Financial Freedom is one thing, but using the workbook companion along with it makes implementing the steps much easier. For exaample, finding the root of your money issues that are based in childhood, with only the reading book, and without the workbook might be a bit difficult. 3.0 out of 5 stars OK
I am not a fan of Suze Orman, but I bought this book for someone who had little knowledge and discipline about personal finance. For this purpose, I think, the book is OK.

This review is from: Suze Orman's Financial Guidebook: Put the 9 Steps to Work (Paperback)
Reading the Nine Steps To Financial Freedom is one thing, but using the workbook companion along with it makes implementing the steps much easier. For exaample, finding the root of your money issues that are based in childhood, with only the reading book, and without the workbook might be a bit difficult. Sure, there are example stories, but books like this were written for those of us who need a little hand holding when we're attempting to change our understanding of finances and how it all works.

I am not one to want extra books around that I don't love and use, and though I was lucky and found my own copy of this book used, and in pristine condition, had I known it existed before then, I would have ordered it with the reading book, it's that helpful. If you can follow directions, and be honest with yourself, with this book it would be very hard not to implement the Nine Steps in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!, September 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Suze Orman's Financial Guidebook: Put the 9 Steps to Work (Paperback)
As a self proclaimed "artsy, spiritual, mushy" type, I absolutely hate left brained detail oriented personal budgets. However, my lack of attention to detail was reflected in my personal financial situation. This booked helped me to look at the details of my finances through a psychological framework that included specific exercises to walk me through those details that I dread. It helped me to get very clear on my financial motivations, dreams and blocks. I loved it!

What this little book did for me was to take me back to when I formed my financial philosophy, eliminate negative false beliefs and form a better, more productive philosophy that actually works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, comprehensive, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Suze Orman's Financial Guidebook: Put the 9 Steps to Work (Paperback)
This is a good companion to the 9 Steps book. If you really want to take your finances in hand, the two books are a great investment. If you are only going to buy one, buy the 9 Steps and skip the workbook.
This book changed my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Really Needed This, July 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I knew my husband and I earned enough money that we should have savings and be able to pay our bills comfortably. But it wasn't happening! Suze's funny, no-nonsense approach to finance helped me learn in ways other personal finance books failed to do. She includes anecdotes and stories that illustrate every concept, and it helped us considerably just to know there are others in the exact same situation as us. I always thought our financial situation was so unique. Suze makes you take a long, hard, honest look at yourself and shows how to adjust your thought patterns and destructive spending to allow for more powerful organization of your financial goals. I'm already seeing results and feel a refreshing sense of relief that we weren't hopeless, and excitement that there are better things to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool to put the stratgies to work, July 20, 2002
This review is from: Suze Orman's Financial Guidebook: Put the 9 Steps to Work (Paperback)
Not only does this complement 9 Steps to Personal Freedom, more importantly, it shows how to utilize the techniques. It's almost like having Suze as your own personal coach.

Suze not only shows you how to find out where you need help, but she also makes you figure it out yourself. She gives you the guidelines to use and the task to do it with. But of course, it is up to you to do your homework

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource to learn about how to create and use a budget and where your money goes, December 1, 2011
My family argued about money - not really teaching me how to treat the money I had. I always seemed to be coming up short and putting things on my credit card getting deeper and deeper into debt. I had seen Suze on MSNBC and started exploring her books. I love doing things and this guidebook spoke to me because of the assessments and worksheets. I learned a lot about where my money was going over the course of a year and why I kept ending up in debt and had no savings to show for my work. The budgeting worksheet was amazing. I had never created a budget before and that exercise was the key to create and follow a budget that met financial goals. By creating and managing my money through a budget I had paid off my credit card within 2 years and was paying cash for everything. I even saved up enough money to buy my first condo. This book taught me what my parents never did.
