I bought this after searching for years for a bike rack that would not bounce like crazy on the back of our 30' 5th wheel RV and also allow us to keep our spare tire back there. Works perfectly. We put two adult bikes and a boy's bike on it.

My only negative (and the reason it is only 4 stars) for it are that they give you no good way to secure the bikes. Pretty much, prepare to buy several tie down ratcheting straps and do it like you need it. Seems odd to have to do this for a $150 bike rack. The vertical bars are not spaced correctly and have to be moved around to work right. They still work after you move them, but I suggest those water noodles to protect the bikes.

I know that I needed to add some wedge blocks behind the bumper between the bumper and the bolts to insure it is not sliding around while traveling. I have about 3/4" of extra space. This space is needed to make sure it fits an assortment of bumpers, so it is not that big of a deal, but Swagman should consider offering some type of spacer to tighten it up that is secure instead of me having to make wooden wedges that hopefully stay put.

The positives outweigh the negatives for me, but a few small changes on Swagman's part would make this a 5 star, must have piece for RVers.

I bought this bike rack for a east coast tour of the U.S and have driven a total of 3000 miles. All the bike's have made it safe and sound during the whole trip. The rack is robust and mounts rigidly to your rv's bumper. I am very pleased with this product.

Excellent build quality and very, very sturdy. I was able to mount these next to my spare tire in a way that neither the spare nor the bikes (two adult mountain bikes and one child's bike) extend beyond the sides of the camper.

Having the spare tire on the back does not significantly reduce my bike storage, I just need to be a bit "creative".

Highly recommend this to anyone with similar storage needs.

I have used this rack for 8 months now, and I am nothing but impressed with it. As some other reviews stated, it did not fit right with my RV, but that is because my bumper is very close to the RV. My modification was to put the flat bars on top and the square tubes on the bottom. I have a very sturdy bumper, so I have had no problems with the rack bending or distorting my bumper. Please check your bumper before purchasing to make sure that it can handle something being cantilevered 3 feet out.

The rack is strong enough that I can stand on it with no movement whatsoever. I am able to carry 2 adult bikes and 2 children's bikes very easily. I purchased some bungee cords to attach the bikes and they work perfectly. With so many bars on the rack, there are plenty of attachment points. I have a 4" bumper on my RV, and it fit perfectly. I have recommended this product to other RVing friends. 8,000+ miles and still going strong.

This product is probably spot-on for someone, just not me. The description stated it was for a particular size/kind of bumper and I bought it HOPING it would be compatible. I fear it is not. I had to make some interesting modifications to get the bumper to take the rack and although it worked, it didn't seem secure enough for my comfort. The rack is pretty darn heavy and really seemed to weigh down the bumper; I think perhaps my bumper cannot adequately support the weight of the rack & then with bikes attached. One bummer thing about the rack is it's crazy-hard for it to accommodate adult AND kid-sized bikes. I got it to work but it's a clear dilemma. I am going to try to return it simply because it was a pricey rack and I'm not comfortable with the poor fit with my trailer bumper.

My bumper was too close to the back of the rv and the bike rack would no bolt around the bumper. I drilled the bumper and mounted the rack through the bumper.
Worked fine until the weight of the bikes bent the bumper down. The product does what it states.

We purchased this rack after purchasing a ladder style bike rack for our Travel Trailer. The ladder on the back of the camper is to close to the side to use a ladder rack so we went with this bumper mounted rack. I e-mailed Swagman and asked if this rack would work with a bumper mounted spare tire and they assured me that it would. It does but, you have to do a lot of adjusting and you will get your bike's on. This is a four bike rack but, with the spare tire you can only get two adult size bikes on it. The rack is very sturdy and assembly is a breeze. We only carry two bike's so this worked ok for us. We will use this until something better comes along.

We were very excited to purchase this item due to its excellent reviews and very fair price so that we could start taking our bikes along with us when RVing. We received the box shortly before a trip and were very disappointed with what we got. The unit that we received was clearly a used unit, as there were areas of significant wear where the paint had worn off. All of the pieces were simply jumbled in the cardboard box, including all the nuts, bolts, and mounting hardware simply loose in the box and not bagged separately.

We were leaving on a trip the next day and wanted to bring our bikes, so I figured we would just keep it rather than returning it and having to forego taking our bikes with us on our trip.

I laid out all the pieces for the installation and found out that several of the bolts, washers, and nuts were missing. I had to make a special trip to Home Depot and spent an additional $10.82 on hardware that was supposed to have been included.

I then set about installing the unit. Quickly I found that the mounting brackets had been bent. It appears to have been previously installed on a bumper that was smaller than a standard RV bumper and the mounting brackets had been bent to accommodate. Fortunately, with much effort, I was able to get the mounting brackets back close enough to their original shape to successfully install the bike rack.

Overall, the process was extremely frustrating, cost more than expected, took nearly 5 hours (when it should have taken less than 1), and I ended up with a used unit rather than a new one.
