We installed this rack as the directions indicated and tightened all the nuts as snug as possible. The third day out on our trip someone motioned us over to the side of the road. The rack had shifted and one of our bike tires was bouncing on the road; totally destroyed the tire and rim. The 'J' hooks did not hold the bikes securely and they scratched to finish on the bikes because, at the loosest, we could barely get on the bikes. Ultimately we had to remove the bikes and rack because the bumper was being ripped off its supports. I would recommend looking for another type of RV rack. We were able to return it to Amazon but received no credit for the return.

We used this rack for one trip with 2 bikes for less than 50 miles and when we got to our site one of the bikes almost fell off.
There method of holding the bikes on is antiquated. We had to buy the attachment for the bikes just to mount them due to aluminum frames; even with 4 heavy duty bungees they bounced so much they bent one of the hold on clamps. If they change the way the bikes mounted to the supports it might be a winner but as it is, JUNK with caps. Sorry Swagman but now I am left with $130.00 worth of junk.

Poor quality-not sturdy connection to bumper. If you have bikes with a thick frame you won't be able to get the hooks around the frame. The supplied tie down straps are too smooth and loosen with vibration. Supplied foam padding tears upon first loading. Even with a straight bar purchased seperately you cannot get them on with out stratching our brand new bikes. The bikes sit too close together and they rub against each other and scratch more while transporting them. Even with bungy cords it doesn't work. When I called the manufacturer to ask if there were any other cradles or hooks I could purchase to modify the rack-she said what do you want for a cheap rack! You should have bought a more expensive one-so much for $85. Don't buy it!!!!!!!!
