fifteen-the best band of all time?,
By chris lea (boerne, tx) - See all my reviews

if you have never heard fifteen i pity you. you truly do not know what you are missing out on. incredible, heartfelt, personal, political lyrics with great stiff little fingers like aggressive punk rock. this is actually a compilation of the 'swain's' lp and their first 7" on lookout!. i own almost all of the 15 albums and this is my second favorite next to buzz.

Berkeley, CA defined.,

The feeling this album produces is akin to taking the East Bay, leaving it out in the sun for a couple of weeks to dry up, then rolling it up and smoking it. Everything is here--from the high school art class album cover, to the vulnerability that we all feel, to the idealism that dreams and teenagehood are made of. This record is a classic.

incredible pop punk,

A great song by Fifteen, while not necessarily a rare moment, but when it's had, like the opening track "Intentions" it gives you reason to believe these guys are capable of writing some of the most intense, inspiring slabs of pop punk we've heard. "Intentions" is such a song. A song that justifies a whole album that doesn't need justification - because it's uniformly good - blisering, raw politically minded punk rock. But "intentions" is one of those songs that you remember because it is one of the few that actually cut to the nerve - that changes lives. That inspires. Listen to the lyrics. The choppy guitar. Those intense vocals. Get blown away. This Fifteen's finest moment.

I saw these guys live at an Eagle's Club and it was a very powerful experience. I came up with more money than I had so I could buy this CD right then and there. It took a while to get used to as the sound was completely different from their live show. Both have an intensity of their own. Perhaps they presented their music differently based on their 'mood' or how they 'felt' that day. Whichever. Live show would get 6 stars, this CD is a solid 5. Gritty, soulful, melodic, pounding, overwhelming, not to be ignored.

Excellent Berkeley, CA punk. Very solid. I only wish that I wouldn't have sold it several years ago...I will re-purchase it someday. "Definition" is amazing. They will not be forgotten

Great Punk,

Fifteen stands out as one of the best, truly punk, bands that has withstood the Times. The message is important, and the delivery intense. It's a specific blend of talent and the politics endemic in all good punk that make this, and other Fifteen albums, truly worth owning.

The CD version of the first Fifteen full release also includes four tracks from their self-titled 7-inch, which I have to say is the most amazing recording I've ever heard. These songs, especially "Liberation" will truly inspire you to no bounds and enkindle your soul.

Beautiful Pop-punk-rock,

This album includes the first two Fifteen releases. While there is some of the hardened politics of later Fifteen releases, the theme of this album is generally inspiring and positive. The music is poppy punk with some rock influence that's rough around the edges, but makes up for that in it's sincerity. Most people consider this their finest moment.
