Solid first storyline from Dysart,

This review is from: Swamp Thing (Vol. 2): Love in Vain (Paperback)
This is a nice "restart" volume for the new Swamp Thing series. The original Vertigo title went through so many ups and downs, and virtually every imaginable situation, that very little was left to do. After shedding his powers in Bad Seed, however, Alec Holland/Swamp Thing has become "stripped down" once again. Recalling the original Wein/Wrightson era, Dysart unleashes a swarm of hellish creatures upon the world of Swamp Thing. Breccia once again does what he does best: crafting sickening, tentacled Lovecraftian demons. Much, however, is left unanswered by the end of this relatively thin volume, and two transitional issues between Bad Seed and Love in Vain are conspicuously absent.
As with most tales in the Vertigo/DC universe, readers will want to at least pick up the "origin volume" before this, or will be at a loss. That being said, Swamp Thing is a title rich in imagination and innovation. Pick up the Wein/Wrightson volume and the Alan Moore run beforehand and you will appreciate the unique vision of Dysart even more.
