I'll Take Just What You...,
By silence (IL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Swan Song (Eco) (Audio CD)
The new Swan Song EP has been a long long long wait for all the big Giant Drag fans, and Im sure it was the same feeling for the band itself. Well, finally it is here and there are no complaints. It is interesting to see how the song writing has evolved since Lemona and Hearts & Unicorns came out. The songs on Swan Song seem to be much more complex- there are more depths too the songs with more guitars and stronger vocals (especially in Stuff to Live For, which has a crazy amazing music video to go along with it). There is something so cute...and creepy about the crazy frontwoman Annie Hardy, it's hard to not appreciate her unique qualities..and they translate into the music for sure. The negative comments they had gotten on previous works was that their material was so simple, and maybe seemed unfinished. Swan Song clearly had more time put into studio, and it pays off! There is even a nice accustic-folk sounding song, Heart Carl which is pleasantly unexpected ending. This is a great little taste for what I'm sure will be an amazing full-length album, hopefully in the not-so-distant future!
