I bought a 4-camera Swann system w/DVR. One of the things that was most attractive was the capability to view the cameras remotely over the internet. Well, we couldn't get the capability up and running, so we called tech support. Their tech support is in Australia. After one hour and 15 minutes on hold, we finally got to speak to a human being. Unfortunately for me, I didn't try the "fix" he gave me while I had him on the phone and the "fix" didn't work. I called back and waited on hold for another 40 minutes before I had to hang up and leave. We never did get the internet viewing option working. AND within the first 3 months, one of the cameras failed. I don't look forward to trying to get it replaced. :(
I replaced the entire system with a Defender Sentinel3 system that I like very much! (8 cameras w/DVR system that's comparable in price to the 4-camera Swann system) Cameras are much clearer than the Swann cameras, they're easier to install and their tech support is on the ball and in the U.S. I again had trouble getting the internet viewing thing set up, so I called them. I had a real person within about 15 minutes and they walked me through step by step getting it set up and made sure it was working before they let me go.
I would NOT recommend Swann. Do yourself a favor and get a Defender Sentinel system!
