The best way to avoid the fishy taste is to take the gels in the middle of a meal or at the beginning, which ever works best for you.

I started taking high doses of this stuff just a couple days ago and I feel amazing.

I have searched and searched for a good quality Omega 3 fish oil with both EPA and DHA. I have tried the expensive ones and I have done a lot of research on many, many fish oils. Mainly because my doctor told me that I needed to take 4,000 mg of Omega 3 for my cholesterol. Well.....I took that seriously. So I went searching. This was the only fish oil that I could find that covered all I needed in a fish oil. It was pure, it was without chemicals (example: mercury, etc.), without flavorings (like lemon that suppose to cover up the fishy after taste but actually it only dilutes the pureness of the oil)and the price. I have taken Swanson's Omega 3 EFAs (Super EPA) for a couple of years and my cholesterol is back to normal. My memory is better and my skin is healthier.

The best way to avoid the fishy taste is to take the gels in the middle of a meal or at the beginning, which ever works best for you. I take it in the middle so my system treats it like any other food and I hardly ever have the fishy taste. If taken after a meal, it will probably sit on top of all the food, open up and tada....a fishy after taste will come up and cause burping. Remember, it's fish oil. Also, I take the gels with my heaviest meal. Cereal and toast in the morning, won't cut it. Would you consider drinking some olive oil after a meal and not expect to have some of the oil come back? The same is true with fish oil. Also, if someone says that if the Omega 3 taste fishy that it could be rancid, that is simply not true. Remember rancid fish oil would taste horrible, not fishy. And it would be cloudy too.

That is my experience with this Swanson EFA, Super EPA, Omega 3. It's a great product, reasonably priced and they back their products 100%, and so do other organizations (like the BBB, etc.). Check them out. I think you will be pleased.

I hope this helps.

I use [...] to evaluate the contents and quality of supplements. They break down the supplement in the lab and evaluate contents versus claims. Swanson's received their approval. It was also reasonably priced compared to the other approved supplements in this category. I have been taking it for two weeks. There is no after taste or odor. It is a fairly large capsule but I have no difficulty in swallowing it. It has a lot date (08/10) but no expiration date. I guess this does not really matter if I am taking one a day as they will run out in a couple of months. It also arrived very quickly. I will definitely order from this vendor again. I hope this helps someone.

Update: July/2012: Well, here it is a year and a half later and I am still using this product. I think I am getting a very good product at a very good price. Thanks, Swanson...and Amazon.

I have searched high and low...you will not find a more concetrated EPA/DHA anywhere at anything close to this price. When you factor in the potency of this product, you would need to take two to three times the amount of cheaper capsules that have 100-180mg EPA versus this product's 300 mg of EPA. Even the products on Amazon that claim to be "Super EPA" and have 500 mg are two to three times as expensive. Trust me, I throw nickels around like manhole covers...this is the best SUPER EPA value anywhere. Last of all, it is fish oil...so if you take a handful and then run a marathon, you will have some aftertaste...so don't do that!

I've done quite a bit of research on Fish Oil caps. These are the best value in my opinion. They've been tested and have no mercury or other heavy metals. They have high levels of the good stuff: 300 mg EPA and 200 mg DHA in each cap. In my opinion, this stuff beats out the so-called "pharmaceutical grade" fish oil (which is nothing but a marketing ploy). I never get the fish burps on these and they are easy to swallow. I buy two at a time, if they charge extra for shipping on Amazon, get them off the Swanson site for cheaper.

They were approved by Consumer Labs; an independent labs that test supplements. I don't buy a supplement that they don't review.

I'm giving this fish oil five stars for its effectiveness and lack of fishy taste. The product delivers on exactly what you expect from your fish oil. I take this everyday because I lift frequently and I have noticed a major difference in my joints. I heard of this brand because it was listed in a study as actually containing what the label claims. I have nothing but my experience with the product to go on but it has helped me immensely.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a high quality fish oil supplement for joint and brain health.

I started taking high doses of this stuff just a couple days ago and I feel amazing. I had problems with the fishy taste but then I froze them and can take 5 or 6 at a time with minimal burp. I'll continue to take these for a long time.
