SWAP is a fun and sexy erotic novel by Jenesi Ash, the alter-ego of romance author Susanna Carr. This is erotica--not romance--and it's about two couples switching partners for a weekend. They organize this swap because the female protagonist has only had one sexual partner and she wants to learn more about sex and she wants to do it with people who care for her. Keep in mind that this is erotica, so the external plot is supposed to be thin and secondary to the sexual awakening/development of the protag.
The protagonist's boyfriend is incredibly dominant and she loves it. She likes being submissive. She particularly likes being tied up. But she doesn't like it because it's sexy; she likes it because it keeps her from "losing control". I'm not really sure what that means, but the narrator repeats the theme many times throughout the book.
Thin plot and weird control issue aside, this is a great book. It's got a little bit of everything: group sex, girl/girl action, very light bondage and D/s, female/male strap-on sex, female/female strap-on sex, dirty games of hide-and-seek, shower and bathtub scenes, etc. Everything but m/m, though it's clear both girls find the idea sexy. The sex is creative and fresh and no two scenes are the same. This book contains some of the best sex and some of the most interesting and engaging characters I've read in a while. I certainly wasn't expecting such high-quality writing from erotica. I've become accustomed to sacrificing plot and good character interaction for sex, but that's not necessary here. What a wonderful surprise!
If you're in the mood for something hot that will turn you on but won't insult your intelligence, grab a copy of SWAP. Though it's not romance per se, it does have strong romantic elements and even a happy ending.

The book starts out with Jamie and Mia talking, while Jamie is packing to move out of this small town. Jamie has so much sexual experience, whereas Mia has only been with one person, her boyfriend Aiden. Jamie thinks she should experience more partners so she knows what she really wants, and Mia thinks maybe she should too, however she doesn't want to risk loosing her boyfriend Aiden because she really loves him, he is very dominate and she needs that to be able to enjoy herself. Jamie doesn't understand this and suggests that perhaps they should swap for the weekend before she moves, it doesn't help that Jamie is a bit in lust with Mia and Mia doesn't know that Jamie goes both ways.
Caleb is Jamie's lover, boy toy, friend. He wants to move with Jamie but she keeps saying no. She doesn't want permanent relationships. She thinks the sex will get boring and she will become stagnant if she is with just one person. He wants to do the swapping for the final weekend in the hopes of making her realized she can't be with out him...he is wonderful...I would personally keep him in a minute. He is really good for her and over the weekend very good for Mia. Aiden really loves Mia but gets excited at the idea of the swapping, because he has a secret fantasy he hasn't told her about because he is afraid of how she will react.
They decide to do the swapping for the weekend and each person learns something about themselves and their partners over the weekend. This book was great! I felt like you really got to know them, especially the women (Mia and Jamie) I would have like the book to be a bit longer and end a bit different, just because I didn't want the weekend to end. This is definitely a keeper for my re-read books, and I definately will read more books by Jenesi Ash. Hope this review helps, my first. It has lots and lots of sex.

deep erotic character study, September 3, 2008

When her best friend adventurous Jamie informs cautious Mia that she is moving on from Clover Bud, the latter's lover Aiden demands he move in with her. However, Mia has some doubts that she wants their relationship to go in that direction as she is not fully satisfied with their sex life although she has no one else to compare him to; he is her first and only lover.
Jamie knows she will miss her lover Caleb and her best friend Mia when she leaves town, but believes it is time for her to move on to try something new. On her last weekend in town, the two pairs of lovers try something daring; they swap lovers shocking the quartet with their reactions as their deepest darkest desires surface and are satiated for now.
Although erotic from almost the onset, SWAP is a deep character study as the quartet begins to understand their selves and especially their companions. Each of the fearsome foursome seems genuine and unique. That weekend, which contains an "A" through "Z" repertoire of sex ([...] to zoo ménage a quatre), also enables each couple to appreciate what they have and have not. Erotic romance fans will enjoy this wild sex SWAP.
