For Dog Lovers And Others,

This review is from: I Swear He Was Laughing: Poems About Dogs (Mostly) Who Only Think They Are People (Paperback)
Dean Blehert has found a subject that puts him in his element here, which means the subject of dogs consistently draws on his best--from affecting poet emoting on the death of his canine companion in "My Good Dog," to philosopher, punmeister, and comic talent without peer. And while his one-liners are priceless--"Down Tolstoy, down--at the reading,/ a lady with a Russian wolfhound," the longer pieces bring their own unique pleasures. Try the hilarious gem, called "Tail Tale," which is a wholly brilliant take-off on what it would be like if we humans had tails.

No laughing matter--author should attend obedience school,

This review is from: I Swear He Was Laughing: Poems About Dogs (Mostly) Who Only Think They Are People (Paperback)
This appears to be a self-published, vanity press type book with all the self-centeredness that suggests. His unintended confession of how badly he treated his dog would make a behaviorist cringe. Neither the sketches nor the "poems" are worth the time to scan them and definitely not worth $ plus shipping. Grrrr!
