"The Pink Spiders" have proven that they are not a "one hit" band. They have proven to us, their fans, that they can jam at all hours of the night, and for as long as you want them to!
As a follow up to their album "Teenage Graffiti", "Sweat it Out" has glam, kick, pizazz, and some great rock and roll riffs. It's easy to listen to, and easy to get in your head.
The only shortfall on this album is that I didn't find as many AWESOME songs as I found on their previous album. All of the songs on this cd are fantastic, but there is but one song that I truly truly love down to the core. The others are just "catchy".
Otherwise, great job, and I look forward to hearing many more follow ups!
The Pink Spiders are a great band, and I will definitely be passing my thoughts of them around to my networks.

Unlike so many albums that start strong and then taper off with a bunch of ill-conceived songs that seem like filler, this offering from Pink Spiders starts strong, then only gets better. The true toe-tapping begins with "Stranglehold" (track 7) and continues through "Here Comes Trouble" (track 12). This six-song stretch is utterly brilliant power pop or punk pop or whatever you want to call it. Each song is a tiny gem with an unforgettable hook that, in all honesty, reminds me of the pop perfectionism of early Beatles albums. When you consider how few bands can nail more than one or two tracks per album, the fact that the Pink Spiders knock six straight songs out of the park is pretty remarkable. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys fun, driving pop rock music.

The Good
"Busy Signals" has a great melodic bounce to it. Matt Friction's vocals are smooth and the addition of computer sounds and keyboards add great texture. the track is about how controlling people can be in relationships. "Gimme Chemicals" is one of those tracks in which you think it's about one thing, but it's actually about another. It's a cool groove radio track. Although dominated by a Vaudeville-style piano run, "Seventeen Candles" is sure to grow in you. Perhaps it's the lyrics in which most of us can relate to as we grew up.

A driving guitar riff and some pounding piano propels the track "Falling with Every Step." The chorus is so catchy you'll be singing along in no time. Loneliness takes center stage on the acoustic track "Don't Wait For Me." "Stranglehold" kicks the energy level up quite a few notches. "Maria' contains the perfect building blocks for a great pop-rock track. The rhythms makes you move and the lyrics make you want to sing. And we can all lament about someone we had a heavy feelings for. "Trust No One" brings back the heavy guitars and catchy hooks.

The Verdict
For the most part, I ignored the last release by The Pink Spiders. I don't really know why. I guess I thought they were just another emo/screamo pop-punk band. God knows we've had a lot of them. Well, that was a huge mistake on my part.

Sweat It Out delivers some of the best, most energetic, and hook-laden power-pop out there. From start to finish the album never gets dull or boring. I am so glad I decided to give this one a chance. When you buy a CD you want to spend it one some quail music. Look no further than The Pink Spiders' Sweat It Out.

Take modern Aerosmith, and mix them with Supergrass and add a squeeze of the Clash or the Cult and you'll get pretty close. Poppy enough to get your attention, but not so much that it bores you after a few listens.

I'm impressed...I liked their last album, but I think this one is even better.

Highly recommended for fans of any of the above.
