Great workout video!,

This review is from: Sweatin' To The Oldies Vol. 1 (Amaray Version) (DVD)
This is a great video for anyone trying to get a less intense workout. It definitely gets the heart rate going in the middle, but has a nice warm up and cool down session that doesn't leave you with a lot of pulled muscles or pain. It takes some time since it is about 45 minutes from start to finish for the routine, but the time goes by very quickly since it is so much fun. Richard Simmons is such a huge motivator and very encouraging. I use this video opposite days that I run as it also helps me stretch and keeps the daily routine without killing me. HIghly recommended!

I had this on VHS 20 years ago when I used it to help me lose 40 pounds. I have tried all types of exercise videos and machines, but they are just so boring. I remembered how I enjoyed this video and was so happy to see that it was still available. It is EXACTLY the same as the original that was on VHS as far as I can tell. I don't know what the reviewer is talking about that says it is "different." Really an enjoyable, easy to follow exercise video that gets your heart rate up, but isn't too hard for beginners.

I'm back to trying to lose those pesky pounds that are creeping back. (I lost 50 pounds about three years ago). I was trying to find a fun video that emphasized more of a dancing approach with good music. I found it. It's an absolute delight to fire up this DVD and start workin' out with Richard Simmons. The music alone is enough to want to get my feet tapping and my body moving.
I've had great fun following the DVD and attempting all the dance steps. Fortunately I work out at home so no one sees me miss a step or heading in the wrong direction. I was always directionally inept. :-) Positive Pointers: 1) Upbeat music with a live band. 2) Inspirational as Richard Simmons makes working out a positive experience. 3) Featuring the dancers at the end of the segment. Both naturally thin people, and people who lost weight, are included in this exercise video. At the end they are all given credit. It is very inspirational to see someone who has lost 100 pounds using Richard Simmon's work out plan. 4) Gentle work out that offers both a warm up and cool down session. Negative Pointers: 1) I wish there was bit more explanation on how to perform a specific exercise. People who have never danced or attended an exercise class would benefit from more explanations on how to safely do some of the exercises shown.

A fun, low impact workout!,

This is a great low impact workout for those over 40 or with medical issues that won't allow high-impact aerobics. It's fun and easy for people not coordinated enough to do the dance moves required in some workout routines. While my husband won't join me (he thinks it's silly) it is fun especially for those who like oldies music. I find that the music lifts my spirits.

I don't write many reviews. But I had to write after reading some of the negative reviews about this cd being boring or just being Richard talking. I was very hesitant to buy it. If you love Richard get this tape. I remember him fondly from when I was young. If you loved him then you will love this. The review about it being only Richard talking, is not true. There is a bonus section in the cd where he is interviewed that you can select afterwards. I loved seeing it. He talks about his struggles with dieting and how he got started. As far as the other bad review of it not being enough of a workout??? That person must be in really good shape, AND NOT WHO THIS KIND OF TAPE/CD IS INTENDED FOR. I am more than 100lbs overweight and do not sweat easily but this had me a "Sweatin to the Oldies." I am so glad that I did order this. My 7 year old loves it too and dances right along with me. I think this is just what I need to get me back into motion after being sedimentary for many years. Love you Richard!

This video is the best you can get. I come from a long line of overweight women, and I am one too. As a child both my mother and my 2 aunts would use this exercise tape. It helped them loose a total of 137 lbs combined. I have lost 25 lbs using it. It is fun music, exciting dance moves, low impact, effectively raises your heart rate, and most importantly to me...showcases real people, with real weightloss acheivements. This is the perfect workout for everyone, children to seniors.

I like this video because it is alot of fun. The music is good and you get a nice workout without really knowing it. Its like line dancing. I plan to
eventually get vol. 2. It is encouraging also to see the ones at the end that have lost weight and how much. And Richard is motivating. It is so nice to go on Amazon and order what you want and receive it in a reasonable time window. Thanks.

I ordered the DVD of "Sweatin'" to replace my old worn-out VHS one.It arrived very quickly and in perfect condition. I was really pleased and surprised to find the new version is the 20th anniversary edition, with interviews and information about the people in the original. The actual work-out part IS the original. It's a fun and up-lifting work-out, which helps me get 'er done.
I'd buy it again.
