Well, I bought this book thinking I would be able to wear some sweatshirts that don't have that "sweatshirt" look. I think I prefer the sweatshirt look after all. All the projects scream "tacky crafty". Also, there isn't even one of the projects that could be machine washable. The author went over the top to create tops that I can't even imagine making, much less actually wearing. She added lacy trims, sequins, silk, wool felt, and silk brocade and on one unfortunate project she tacked on broomstick skirts! These things with sweatshirts??? I should have bought another book "Sweatshirts With a Twist", in which a reviewer stated that not one looks like the original sweatshirt, and that all were elegant.
This is the first time I've written a review and I'm sorry I can't be more favorable or charitable, but if I save someone some money this review will be worth it. I'm sure the author is very talented and that does come through in her ideas. It's just too bad that she didn't translate her ideas into wearable projects.

Though the concept of using sweatshirts to create unique garments isn't bad, the projects in this book are incredibly ugly. The author may be technically capable, but she has absolutely no taste when it comes to combining colors, textures, patterns and shapes. Each garment is over-embellished to the point of looking tacky. Would anyone really wear this stuff? Or is this a parody of a craft book?
