The list author says: "There are many good Swedish Children's Books that are extensively read not just in Scandinavia but all over Europe. It is my experience as a Swedish parent with American kids that these books could do very well in the U.S. as well. When it is about Children's literature it seems to be a divide between the English speaking countries and the rest of Europe. I get Swedish Children's books for my kids and American Children's books for my brotherÂ’s kids.
I should say that one of my daughter's absolute favorites, "the Wasa Piglet" is not sold by Amazon, but keep your eyes open for it."
"Astrid Lindgren is probably the most famous Scandinavian Children's book author. She is also well known on the European continent. A "sort of Nobel prize" for Children's books has been instituted in her honor."
"The movie version of this book contains a scene with kids jumping over huge crevasses. Parents objected because they did not want their kids doing this. The book was great and the movie otherwise great."
